Anyone know the procedure for adjusting the TPS? I've got to change the TPS on the S&S Throttle body to the old style, adjustable one. But can't find the procedure. Do you adjust with a laptop till the throttle postion indicates 0? Any help greathly appreciated.
might do a search on daytona twin tec with wego as you have to check the tps and adjust if need. should be able to check voltage with a multimeter and adjust to the correct reading. The correct reading is the question.
Yep, that's what I thought. I read somewhere to adjust to .47 volts. But don't know which wire that is from? And I assume that is with a probe into the wire...????
Well I guess you really need to buy the HD service manual to learn correct procedure and the
correct readings.
I would give it to you, but my manual is loaned out.
You need to use a digital multi meter and I believe the readings are on pins
16 and 30 at the ECM.
The amount is dependent on cams, and air cleaner and other mods done.
This is provided you are using HD's tps.
choochoo, thanks, but the HD service manual probably won't be much help, I'm not putting anything HD in this motor build. The S&S Single Bore Fuel Injection Throttle Body on the 124" motor I put in the bagger I built requires an old style TPS. NO guidance given on setting the TPS by S&S. Anyone else run into this? Or have an idea how to set the TPS ... generically, for lack of a better word....
Unless someone can help me, I'll install it and adjust it to read 0 throttle with the S&S VFI software/laptop.
If you are putting a "99 TPS on the S&S then you just need to set it according to the stock specs, The TPS doesn't know what body it is attached to, its job is just to send s variable voltage signal to the ECM. Just use the procedure for whatever year the TPS comes from.
Call S&S to find out what voltage 0 throttle is considered to be, attach multimter, loosen tps screws and rotate until desired voltage reading is achieved, tighten screws and confirm voltage. Screw holes may need slotting to get proper adjustment.

Using a DVOM ,the TPS signal wire should be the one furthest to the right on the sensor, it is grey/ purple , easy to find out one of the others is going to be ECM/chassis ground and the other 5V feed. You measure between the signal wire and chassis ground, preferably at the battery negative. The values increase as the throttle is opened to max voltage.
