How to acheive these goals - including but not limited to - manipulation, bait and switch tactics, untruthfulness about product pricing, learning the add-on, jack-up pricing scheme, Harley financing at all costs, say whatever it takes to close the deal (promises, promises) never put anything in writing, sell and push Harley products at nausiem, low on trades - high on prices, and finally a verse from the X files TV show "Deny Everything - Admit Nothing"
I hate the be the one to break it to you but this is crap.. Im a manager at a dealership and have been to said meetings. And I have never heard anything even close to what your saying. Sure there are dealers that may not practice the fairest sales practices but dont throw all 650 U.S. dealers in that fire. Most of the owners and GM's ive met are very nice and run very customer friendly business's. With the market for bikes starting to fill and not having wait list's for models dealers who do treat customers like you've decribed are going under. Are goals important of course they are with out them we would go out of business. I believe that 99 % of the people on this site under stand that HD provides something unique to there life. But that is a choice each of us has made when we laid down our tens of thousands.

Here is some more food for thought. Think about all of the threads you have read on here, and thought, "what a dumbass". Now think about how much of this a dealer goes through every day one on one. Sure it's all part of the job. Still, it get's old after a while. Or think about that boss you had that time, that almost made you sick to your stomach when you had to go to work. I've spent a lot of time in Harley stores, and filled in at one as GM while the new owner looked for one full-time. That experience is why I hate to go in one now days. People just don't realize the crap a HD employee has to put up with, and still try to keep a smile on their face. Someone made a great point in a previous post. You go there because you want to, not because you need to. If you had a bad experience in a store, you might have caught them on a really bad day. If you continue to have trouble every time you go, you might want to find another store, or look for parts online. Just some more of my $.02
It all comes down to what features of the SG are important to you. If you don't care about a black/chrome engine or have a different stereo in mind or figure you could take or leave the rear-end treatment, then the standard could work. It's all about what you want in the end - CWO
Well hell, if you don't care about all of that stuff just buy a honda.
You have to admit it, having the HD on a product does jack it up quite a bit. Just mix and match.....I love my EGS in Denim Black. Its an 09 and its no longer for 2010. Ill get Sirrius or XM set up in the future
You are very wrong. I own a 2008 Standard that I have $450.00 in the radio complete, (it actually works all the time and has better sound then stock), short windshield for $39.95 off of EBay and lowering kit for $40. Longer shocks equals a better ride and I have a more comfortable seat the any Street Glide. Yes I don't have saddle bag fillter strips but I do have passing lamps and fender tip lamps and rear crash bars and passenger floor boards for the OL.

I bought a few parts for my Kawasaki Vulcan when I had it from the Kawi dealer and those parts are every bit as expensive and weren't made for ****. I'll stick with HD parts. yea, they are expensive but I've had good luck with them so far.
should be able to do all that aftermarket for less than a grand...?
This is the key right there.
I looked at after-market radios and they were running $500 for after market ones at the dealer, Looks like around $300 for a lowering kit, and the rest of the cosmetic changes would add up pretty quick. So although it "should" be able to, it really doesn't especially if you put a value on your time wrenching on it.
When I added it all up in my head It was worth it to me to head out the door with everything already done for the most part. Except my wife wanted a bigger seat and the trunk sounded like a good idea. So I went with the Ultra. I have a 9 month old son at home. At least for the short term my time is better spent with him.
When i got my bike originally, i got the road king because i didn't care for the look of the batwing. Now that i've had it a while, i would like alot of the features that come along with the batwing, but still not that fired up about the look of it. If i was to get an EG, might as well go Ultra or not at all. Its always easier to take things off than to put them on
