Default Is this download worth it, and what is it's name

I posted this down in the tech section with know replies. What is the download called, that turns the back cylinder off if the engine gets too hot, or the rpm's drop so low? My guess is that it is not this Stage one I hear about. I know that my dealer well install it, and uninstall it once free. Is it worth getting for a 08 Ultra? What else does it do?

It is called a heat management or parade download. It does pretty much what you said at idle and clutch in. Used to be standard until 07.
I didn't do it and don't know many who have.
If you ride in heavy traffic alot in hot summer months it may be worth it.
I haven't heard of any negative effects.

I plan on using my Ultra to do a lot of traveling, may get into all kinds of situations. I know last summer I rode out to Colorado, and on the way, on day, it was over 100 degrees. Has any one had any problems with the download, since the dealer said the would also uninstall it?

Model Year 2007:
New for all Big Twin vehicles there is an optional Heat Management System called the
‘Engine Idle Temperature Management System’ or EITMS. The Tuner software allows the
EITMS to be turned ON/OFF.
For those riders who frequently find themselves in riding conditions where the vehicle is
subjected to prolonged idle conditions the optional ‘Engine Idle Temperature Management
System’ (EITMS) is available. This feature offers limited rear cylinder cooling with the vehicle
stopped while the engine is left at idle.
Enabling EITMS will cause the rear cylinder to be shut OFF when ALL of the following occur:
1. Engine Temperature reaches ~300F.
2. And the vehicle is at IDLE.
3. And the vehicle is STOPPED.
Please note:
Customer benefits (for Rider Comfort) – If a customer experiences frequent riding conditions
where prolonged idle conditions create excessive engine heat, EITMS offers limited rear
cylinder cooling with the vehicle stopped and engine at idle. While enabled, the customer
may notice a unique exhaust odor which may be objectionable. The EITMS does not
address engine heat issues resulting from other operating conditions.

your best bet is go with a tuner that richens it up. the heat managment only comes on after your already too hot and if u blurp the throttle it goes back of for a few minutes so it doesnt do much goood for stop and go. but it wont hurt anything either.......

It's on your bike and you can arm it and disarm it your self on the 08 RG.
Page 140 of the owners manuelon the RG.

Vehicles are delivered from the factory withEITMS daisabled.
EITMS can be enabled or disabled by the rider using the following proceedure.

1. Turn the ingnitionswitch tothe ON position (do not start the motorcycle)

2. Push the throttle to roll-off position and hold.

3.After approx. 3 seconds, the cruise indicator lamp will will either flash green(EITMS enabled) orred (EITMS diabled)

4. Repeat the procedureas needed to enable or diable EITMS.
This is how it is on an 08 RG. I would think that you could do this on any Bike with cruise or FBW throttle.
