Default Road King windshield

Just picked up my new road king and it is fantastic. Runs and looks great. One thing I'm having trouble with is the height of the windshield. I have never had a bike with a windshield and I am finding the the top of the windshield is level with my line of vision, should it not be slightly below the line of vision?? If so, is there a prosess for cutting the windshield down to a more suitable height?

Thanks for your input...

Thanks for the link monsterdeluxe. Looks pretty straight forward. Still wondering what the ideal height should be, should it be below my line of vision. Just seems to obstruct my vision where it is. There must be a "rule of thumb" for the vision line..

thanks.

Or if you're not a DIYer, Harley sells a replacement shield for about $145. It's 4" shorter than the stock windshield. PN 58195-94

I had the same problem on my 2006 Road King. I went with the Clearview 17" which is 2 inches shorter then stock and got it with the upper recurve and it still throws the air up over my face and head.

I like mine.

Are you sure you are not slouching or anything to reach the handle bars? I am 5'11" and thought my shield was too tall until I realized the handle bars weren't set right for me. The guy I bought the bike fromwas about6'5" with a hell of a reachand had the bars rotated really low. Once I rotated them up, I sat more upright andthe windshield was no longer an issue. It is now about 3/4" of an inch below my line of sight. Works for me.

Did the same thing, but I didn't like the shape. I made a patterna little wider before it curves up to the top arch. hit it witha jig saw after masking taping the shield, hit it with a little sand paper (becareful you don't scratch anything but the cutline). piece of cake

If you plan on going to a different seat anytime, this can change where your eyes line up in relation to the top of the windshield. Keep this in mind before making the cut.
