Default TIP reading on odometer

I took a friend on a ride today. She went to get on before I was ready. The bike went over no major damage or anything. When we picked it up I tried to start it. It cranked then would die. I noticed that the odometer read TIP. I turned ignition off for a few seconds and it cleared and started up. I there a fuel shut off for when it tips over?

Yes, there is an automatic fuel shut off. It's one of those safety/epa **** things. But it does help in accident situations, provided you don't puncture the tank itself.

Yeah, it's a "safety thing" for which I was very grateful after I dumped my EG on a slow, uphill left hand turn on my first day of ownership--nice that HD protects idiots like me.

Yeah if I had one I got my bike used from the rental dept. Don't tell me you actually read yours anyway. OK hand back your man card.

I ain't dropped mine. why the hell does it come on every 3 or 4 months? everything appears to be functioning correctly when it comes on. I turn off the ignition and wait a couple seconds and it goes away . wierd.
