Not long bought a FB 08 very nice intro to harley, now er indoors is showing an interest in going on it it, would you adam and eve it.
If she showed any inclination that she wasinterested before I would have gone for the electroglide or road king, what are these like to ride compaired to my FB which has a very low centre of gravity.
If I am understanding you? Your OL wants to ride on the 08 FB, Yopu are mad because you would have got a RG, UC etc if she showed interest before? If this is correct take the bike down and trade up for a SEUC.
We have an 02 fatboy with 32,000 miles on it from doing most of Canada and 42 U.S. states....riding 2-up. I'm 45 and the wife is almost 50 and both of us had no problem on the fatboy with a few mods. windshield, mustang seat with rider backrest, passenger backrest with luggage rack and throw over saddlebags...you wouldn't believe the ammount of people that look at a fatboy really far from home.....we love the touring capability as well we both love the stripped look of the bike(all acc. are quick detachable. That said we also purchased a 2003 ultra and the riding position took only a short time to get use to....i have been told the Fatboy is the easiest bike to ride in the hd line. The main difference i have noticed is the ultra is far easier to handle two up...that's what it's made for. The new ultra has a detachable tour pac that at least semi pleases our like for a stripped bike....Either way we have rode lots on both and i would say enjoy the fatboy while you can.....
Had a paint job done on my first bike. It was sweeeeeeet. Bought me a solo seat........And while in the garage putting the new seat on, she says.............Where am I going to sit? Maybe, I want to ride too.... Up until that point, she never cared. Didn't take longbefore I was riding a bolt on station wagon.
Changing parts and pieces to be solo one day and two up the next, grew old really quick.
My suggestion would be to do just enough to make her comfortable on the bike you have now. If it turns out that she enjoys riding as much as you do. Well........ You'll have to trade up to the wagon. Good Luck
One suggestion.. if ya REALLY want her to ride along.. get a nice COMFORTABLE passenger pillion... if ya DON"T want her ta ride along.. get a nice small one like on a Sporty.. that'll dampen her enthusiasm real quick...!!.. Mine refused to ride on the Sporty anymore.. When she sat on the back of the EG... she said she could fall asleep back there..and that was after we went for a rdie..
It kinda depends on what you want to do with the bike. I have a '01 Fatboy and a 2000 Road Glide. The Fatboy is fine for most riding even long distance riding. It isalso very versatile, I've got a windshield, backrest, T-bag, and saddlebags forit andcantake itfrom cross country hauler to astripped down cruiser in about 10 minutes. If your looking for a bike you are going to ride from New York to Florida or spend a weeks vacation on I would start looking at a big bike. The touring bikes really don't ride that differently than the softails. Once you get used toone you'll probably say to yourself, "self, why did I ever buy that softail".
Sounds like me. I bought a Fat Boy last year. Exactly one year later I am sitting on my new Street Glide. Traded in my Fatty. Wonder why I started with a Fatty in the first place.
