Escort battery powered, mounted to the frame of my windshield on my Roadking, has saved me several times, going to Sturgis in '06 through Idaho it kept going off for maybe 10 miles, had a white fFord excursion in front of me and a little red sports car behind me, when the road opened up a little the sports car blew past me and the white ford, as soon as he passed the ford he got lit up like a christmas tree, undercover or unmarked excursion looked like a socker mom car.
Never have, never will. Do within the speed limits most of the time. I got the speed demon out of me several years ago. Too many (family, wife, kids) counting on me to be out racing around.
With lazer out... no radar detector is gonna help you. With a good lazer detector, it will let you know about six seconds earlier than you would have known anyway, that you're fixing to get a ticket. Cruise control works pretty good for me.

Wrong. The Valentine 1 is has both radar and laser detection.
Correct, radar dectors don't work (to warn you in advance) with laser-driven LIDAR systems. LIDAR works at the speed of light, not six seconds. When you detect it, it has "detected" you at the same time. There is NO warning at light speed. There is NO scatter to detect at a distance. The spread of the beam is about 24". There's nothing to detect until you're detected. The value of a radar detector is if you live/travel where radio-wave systems (X, K, Ka, etc.) are still used. [8D]
