I'm looking for some advice from you very knowledgable people. I'm getting the Rinehart True Duals for my 08 Road King. It it going to hurt anything if I just install them and do nothing else. I plan on getting the SERT and SEAC when I can afford it in a month or so. I really don't want to do any damage to the motor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Your bike already runs lean from the factory to meet EPA regs, opening up the exhaust will lean it out more. I agree with the last post, install the TDs at the same time as the SERT.
I'd wait to put the duals on until you have the SERT
Solid advice. Rineharts are very lean in the middle even with a map that should be to rich for a particular build. A race Tuner AND a knowledgable tuner is deffinately required!
Not trying to hijack this thread, but I'm curious. How's it that with the closed loop system that changing pipe and/or air cleaner will result in a more lean condition? I know they're already set up on the lean side. But, will it really go more lean? I'm talking strictly the 08's here.[sm=confused06.gif]
Not sure on true duals, but what I have heard is that it will not hurt just changing the exhaust. It will change it when you change the intake though and will ahve to be tuned then.

It wont "go more lean" the emc will deliver the same amont of fuel, but with a free flowing exhaust or a free flowing air filter your allowing more air to pass through the motor with out adding any fuel, the result is a leaner mixture.

This is exactly what I'm trying to understand. In an automotive closed loop efi system, the 02's still maintain the desired (programmed) af ratio. Doesn't it hold true also with the Dephi closed loop efi?
