I am about to swap out my cams on my rk custom. I believe what you will need is the torrington b-148? At least for the '05 I have. Also, check out this link... http://www.harleyhog.co.uk/index.htmThere is a lot of good info there. Including doing the cams and a 1550 kit. I am trying to get my hands on the tools. Someone on the forum has offered to let me borrow there's, if he can find them. Also, if you go to harley tech talk, there are people there that sell, and rent the tools. In a pinch, I was told that I could use a blind spot puller to remove the bearings. It can be rented at Autozone. And use a socket, or something similar, to install it. Money is tight for me, so I have to save pennies where I can. Let me know how it goes...
By the way. Anyone know of a place to get the adjustable push rods, and covers... for cheap?

That is the inner bearing. His potential problem is the outer rear cam bearing. The early bikes had a ball style bearing instead of the later roller bearing.

Perry Barth pbarth@cableone.net rents the tools & if you email him, he will send you a price list.
Toby
I emailed one guy on HTT. He sent me his price list. I had a tough time reading it, as my pc didn't want to recognize it. His rental prices were fine, but he wanted a crap load of money for a deposit. I don't have enough room on a CC to cover it... and, if I did, I would just buy the tools. I was lucky enough to find a forum member that is going to lend me the tools... which I would do for anyone else, if I had them. Thanks, though... Still gotta get those pushrods and bearings, though...
You guysare great, thanks for the info, Im still not sure which way to go, andrews or S&S, I heard on the Vtwin forum S&S was the way to go for many reasons. However I will make my mind up soon..
That is why I bought my tools. Between the deposit & knowing that I will have it next time (if I don't loan it out & forget about them. I have lost a lot of tools loaning them out & then forgetting who I loaned them to or they moved. Even people that I trusted (guess I would not have loaned them if I didn't). I don't think that they did it intentionally, but the tools had to be bought again. So now, I will go help someone or they can give me a deposit that I can go buy new ones if I don't get them back. In a perfect world, I wouldn't have to worry.
