I'll be heading up there from Cocoa Beach. Going to end my trip up thereFriday PM so I canbe at the Satprelim stuff atH/D of Washington DC. Then willKSU on Sun from there to Pentagon parking lot meet-up.
Be prepared for a long wait in the parking lot before ya start moving. The roll starts at 1200. The dealerships don't arrive till abut 1000 or so. That will put your roll time around 1400 or 1500. Bring sun block, water, snacksand a towel to dry off with.
As one of the lucky people that lives outside of DC here is information you need to know.
I have ridden with one of the local dealerships and while that is fun you get to the Pentagon lot really late and a few years ago they were parking bikes in another lot...talk about waiting time.
My group usually heads straight down to the Pentagon North lot...we like to get there by 7:30am at the latest. Even when you get there at that time it will still be a good hour or so after the parade starts before you leave the lot.
So that means you wait around in the lot for about 5-6 hours.
I am heading out from California, on May 11th to meet up with a group of Native Americans in Arizona, who are conducting an organized ride back to DC. They use to ride with "Operation Carry the Flame", who is associated with "Rolling Thunder".This year they are putting together a ride across the country with many stops planned along the way in order to honor all of the veterans and families of veterans, who have given the ultimate sacrifice. I have witnessed first hand how patriotic the Native American's are and how proud they are to have served in the military to protect our country's freedom. I am looking forward to riding with them and honoring those veterans who have given their lives for my freedom. I hope to see you guy's back East this coming May.
The wife and I will be going from Northern New York arriving Friday afternoon. This will be our third year. Did the H-D of Washington thing on Saturday the first year and won't do it again. I head over to Patriot H-D in Fairfax instead or head into D. C. for Thunder Alley.
If some of you folks don't want to do the Ft. Washington HD thing there is a new dealer up the road north just off Rt295 call Old Glory HD. They are in Laurel MD and planning an escorted ride to the action to. Just a thought for some of ya planning to head this way.
