Default Air temp gauge install

Ok, before you all tell me how worthless this is, I don't care. My standard had no gauges below and with the plug I made on one side, I just wanna fill the hole with something on the other. Kinda cool to have outdoor temp I think...
I got the gauge for nothing brand new. It was in this kit #74439-00
WhatI need to know is there a sending wire or something to hook to the back and if so where does it go to? I am getting it with no instructions...

But I won't say that.

Once the outer fairing is removed the plug for the power should be near or located near the whole. This is where is was on my standard.Did yourair temp gauge come with the sensor? Im having my gauges changed to spun alim so if your interested I can sell you the oil pressure gauge cheap when I get my bike back.

My air temp isn't too far off. The sensor plugs in just below the radio mount inside the fairing. I feel the same way about my standard, needed to fill the void. I have the oil temp on the right side, works great.

Hey creepster, I moved the sensor from behind the fairing and after extending the wires about 10 inches and put it between the forks on the outside and it works just fine. Before I movedit, it was as everyone says "worthless", now it's great. If you have just the gauge you'll need to get the sensor. I'm sure someone here has replaced their air temp gauge with the oil temp gauge and has one laying around. Try Terry's new swapshop forum and see if anyone has a sensor they can get to ya. Good luck..."D"

I am laid off, so all I have is time.
Igot the gauge for free in the cost of shipping thread,so what the hell. If I am going to put it in I might as well have it hooked up! It will fill the empty hole, least look nice, and I will know what the temp inside my fairing is, LOL. Don't wanna cook those wires!

I will probably ask more when it gets here...

Mine was about 10-15 degrees high as delivered. I moved the sensor to the left side of the radio bracket, attached with velcro which insulated it from any temperature conductivity of the metal. Now it agrees with forecast temperatures and bank signs. It does take a few minutes to adjust to ambient temperatures. I like mine and my buddy is always asking me what the temperature is.[sm=goodidea.gif]
