96" HP NUMBERS - disapointed
A set of good cams, and I assume we are talking gear drive cams, new lifters, and you'll need new adjustable pushrods will run you $1600 installed. I've got a stock 06 RK and my mech is saying on a dyno he can get hi 80's HP and 90 tq at 2200 -4500 rpm. Not bad for $1600.
Throw in bigger jugs, forged pistons, some milling and porting on the heads and another 1500-2K and you too can be in the 100/100 club. Me I'm going for the Andrews 21's Gear drive. Get those faulty tensioners out of there now and see how it pulls.
If it ain't enough I'll do the rest next year.....plus this keeps the misses from getting too upset with my harley habit.
Gotta call today from the dealer today, bike was on the dyno w. race tuner to dial in the Ness Big Sucker and Rush Pipes. The motor puts out 69-70hp! C'mon, need more than that!!!! Any tips on bustin into the 100hp club w. a RELIABLE & ECONOMICAL build? Or anyother way to get the HP #'s up? How much more will cams get ya? Thanks.

Info on the baffles: http://fuelmotousa.com/rush_fuelmoto
This translates as 78HP/94TQ and is at or near a properly tuned 2-into-1 setup, which is about as high as you can go with the stock engine (i.e., no cam upgrade, head work, etc.). You could buy the baffles, install them in your Rush mufflers, and try to get a good tune with the SERT, which should achieve similar results although it'll cost you more money for another dyno tune. There is no reason you can't do it given a competent tuner, as it's only a matter of getting the A/F and ignition timing correct. That can be achieved with a PCIII, SERT, T'Max, etc. given a good canned map or proper dyno tune.
That's about right, could be a bit higher. My 97 EGC got 72.5hp and 84.5 tq with pipes, K&N and a PCIII. What you may find is that the power band got expanded and that extra tourque at lower rpms will make a big difference in seat of the pants rideability.
The sky is the limit if you want to get into the engine. Just bring your wallett. There are some nice builds out there that will get you very streetable 100/100 numbers.

The police 103" which is standard in 07 and 08.....is nothing more than a 96 with a big bore kit.
No cam changes and no head work.
The Police 103 has 102 Ft lbs of torque @ 2500 rpm.
The 96" motor is a great platform for improving both hp and tq.
You cannot get horsepower from a cam alone, mostly a better and slightly higher tq curve. If you match a good hi-lift set of cams with a performance set of heads, then top it off with a
performance exhaust like a fatcat with a big bore baffle, you can easily get up to 110 hp and110 tq. There are plenty of examples of 95 inchers hitting these numbers on this site.
Companies such as T-man performance, Branch do a great job of reflowing the heads and increasing valve sizes, most of these guys will take the time to explain how things have to work to get what you want, I'd give them a call. The more fresh air you can breath in, and the more hot air you can expel the more horsepower you will get. Changing lifters or pushrods adds very little if any horsepower (less than 2hp). A good air filter system like a Dohertywill give you 4-6 extra hp. Do not piecemeal the upgrades. The labor will kill you. Upgrade everything that you
can afford when you have the engine apart, ie, Feuling race pushrods and lifters.
The parts will run about 2700 and the labor about a thousand. I've done this a few times, but
the results are pretty dramatic. The guys that are encouraging you to go slow and enjoy the
ride are the guys that can't afford it and always have sex in the missionary position. Going faster from zero to sixty, having the power to get out of trouble and pass a semi in a heartbeat, especially when riding two up, is priceless and a real rush. Don't be boring.. be cool. Good luck.

I have said this many times........ (and someone should have created the awareness that you were mistaken prior to this)
