They do make a cap / cover, or theshaft can be cutoff with a hacksaw. That's what was done to my Fat Boy. Also, I'll take that heel shift if you want to sell it.
Just bought a Kuryakyn cap at the Salt Lake HD shop for $9... quick, easy, and cheap. I like that the toe shifter stays towards the inside of the splines instead of being spaced outward because it keeps just a bit more space on the floor board.
Last weekend I removed my heal shifter lever and left the toe shifter on the inside position after adjusting the height for my boot height. I had to order a cap last Saturday since my H-D Dealer had 7 caps on order for stock that should be in this week.
I also ordered a clear 9-1/2" windshield to put the wind flow at the top of my helmet or higher instead of right in my face. My neighbor is about the same height as me and he says the 9-1/2" windshield on his 2006 SG is just perfect to let him see over it when riding, but it also redirects the wind flow over his head.
