Default 1st Harley Davidson Purchase

I am going to order a new bike this month(Road King Custom) and I am wondering how to get the best deal. What kind of deals should I look for? Do dealerships deal on their sticker price? What is a good base price for the Road King Custom in vivid black? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hunter;
Depending on your area you should be able to find a dealer that sells at or below MSRP. Some dealers will negotiate but most won't. Base MSRP for a RK Custom in black is $17,195.

I checked with a lot of dealers and all of them were selling at MSRP. One thing that I have seen with most is they are offering up to $1,000.00 in HD extras and no freight or setup charges for most models.

All my local dealers will usually come off of the price about 1,000-1,500 but they don't give free hd extras but they do give anything you buy from them that day for i think 30-50% off.

RKC vivid black
MSRP $17,195-18,855

Look for the dealer that dosen't go above MSRP.

You'll find that the independant dealers, for the most part, won't go above MSRP. Dealers that do I'm sure will be mentioned in this thread.

I just bought a Pearl Black FLHXI W/ Security. Told them I want cruise, detach backrest and comfortstitch seat . Paid 19750.00 OTD. (includes tax, title & every thing)
So some dealers will deal some wont. I went to another stealer and he said he wouldn't sell the bike alone for that price........Shop around.

Be thankful you don't live where you can ride year around as far as buying a bike is concerned. Some dealers here in Phoenix metro area might say they are selling at MSRP but by the time they add their so called setup charges and documentation charges which total almost $1000 they are hardly selling at MSRP. Then they try to sell you every package under the sun like Ext. Warranty and Pre-paid service, tire and wheel coverage and anything else they can think of. One thing that was funny when I bought my Road King Standard a little over a week ago was that after I refused all the extras, thay came back with a much lower price on those items. I also turned that down. The MSRP on my Road King Standard was $17,810.00 which included the Security System and Fuel Injection and Deep Cobalt color. My OTD (out the door) price was $20,863.00 which included Freight of $320.00 + Tax, License and their setup and Doc. charges. They were actually $400 higher then that until I showed them the lowest price I got from one of the other dealers here in town who had the lowest OTD and they then matched that. They did give me 10% off anything I bought that day including a Stage One upgrade which was an additional $1200.00 extra including a SERT before the 10% discount. So my OTD with the Stage One and SERT was $21,970.00. Such a deal. By the way, the same bike in Vivid Black was $20,518.00 OTD before the Stage One. Good luck, you should find a better deal in Iowa this time of year.

You can get MSRP plus the standard setup charges from the harley site. Some dealers will sale at MSRP and then charge you $1,000 for setup or doc fees. I bought my 05 FLHRI Road King last march at MSRP. Bought it at Appleton's in Clarksville TN. Shop around and be patient. You can get MSRP. The markup on these bikes is around 18%. I bought the invoice just to see what the dealer paid for the bike.
