Evidently, the OP doesn't have kids or has forgotten what they are like. The minute it appeared that the 2 year old wasn't being supervised was when I'd be getting back to my bike in a hurryto be sure the little one didn't burn himself--yeah, it'd annoy me if the little kid brokesomething on the bike (unlikely) or scratched the paint (also unlikely)--but I'd feel much worse if the kid burned himself on the exhaust which would be very, very easy.

We all live and learn--often by our mistakes and those of others.

Glad no one got hurt and your bike wasn't damaged.

I DO have kids, 21,24 and 28. None of which would touch a bike without permission. When they were small, I had more control of them than to let them run around a parking lot without a care and yes, I was headed for the door while I was watching what was going on. I do know what kids are like and I also know what kind of damage a zipper on a jacket can do to a paint job if someone is not careful. If he had pushed the bike off the kickstand and it fell on him or he would have burned himself on the pipes I am sure I would spend the rest of my life buying them a new Mexican because of thier lack of parenting skills.

You know there is a different tack here. While I would be aggrevated like you were, I may look at this as an opportunity, like Harleypingman said, to teach the kid what apparently what his parents had not. Also an opportunity to show someone we are not a bunch of hooligans like mist folks think everyone on a bike, especially a Harley is. As far as my kids they wouldn't even ask me to touch, but they may ask you...
