I don't know why everyone gets their undies in an bunch over how fast their Harley goes, or why people drop thousands doing monster builds. Simple fact is, if you want fast, any current production 600cc sportbike will leave any Hog on the trailer. That isn't why I bought my SG. I bought it because it looks, feels, and rides cool. A great bike to take into the countryside at a modest pace and smell the roses and look at the cows. (or is it smell the cows and look at the roses?)

For what I paid for my SG, I could have bought a new bottom of the line GW, and a good used 600cc sportbike, both of which will spank a Harley to hell and back.

SG, stock, why spend money making it faster???

Don't chase or race a Goldwing...
I think there us a video of a guy named yellow wolf riding a Goldwing
on the Dragin in N.C. Search on 'Yellow wolf'.
I do not know how fast my bike will go..but it has been up to 90 MPH...
It may have have topped at 90...maybe 95? I don't know and don't care.
You want a fast bike? Get a Susuki Hayabusa...or whatever Kawasaki is equal
to a Hayabusa. A Harley wil not stand up to speeds like those.
Me? I live for moments ..like at a stop light and some young thing on the
back of a crotch rocket points to my bike and says..."Nice back rest!"
YEH baby....and a tour pack too!
LOL

I've topped 160 a few times on my gsxr 1100 and it felt pinned to the ground compared to my '69 flh which felt like it was coming apart at the century mark. My current scoot is an '07 roadie and it is pretty much spent at 110 mph. It likes 75 to 85 ish for cruising.

I didn't think Road Glides could even go that fast. j/k

In all seriousness, there a reason a lot of club members ride the RG's. Just lookaround and you'll quickly discover that many of them ride Road Glides as opposed to Batwings. Many claim they cut the wind better than the sexier batwing bikes and that's likely because they were designed in a wind tunnel, but for me it's style and functionality on a hotrodded Street Glide.

Glad you're having fun...just keep the rubber side down.

My SE-Deuce will get to 100 quick enough for a HD, and keep pulling strong well past 110. I dont get it there too often, and when I do its just for a very brief sprint. I haven't checked out the top end with the new SERT and dyno tune, but just riding around town....taking it home from the local dealer, I could seat of the pants feel it had more ***** then when I dropped it off there.

I been riding full size street bikes for almost 30 years now....I have ridden all sorts of bikes, makes and models. I think I got 99% of the "need for speed" out of my system a few miles back. That's why I just bought a 08' Street Glide. If I still wanted to visit trip digits all the time I would have bought another Kaw Zx14, or ZRX12......their just not what I am looking for in a mc anymore.

I had a '79 Honda GL1000 (Gold Wing) a long time ago. I was winding it up on the highway one time and about 90+ the front end started shaking so bad that I was sure that I was going down. I slowly backed off the throttle and gently tapped the front brakes. This brought it back under control. My heart was definitely pounding. Even since then,if I feel a need for speed, I crank it up slowly and pay close attention to any feedback the bike is giving me.

"As for the gold wing when it is hauled off to the junk yard at 55 mph you can ride by and wave."

LOL and when do you think that will happen after the first 100k miles?

Rocko, I was not chaseing him if I was then how would he have passed me. Also other then the car I passed there was no one on the road. This was way out in the middle of nowhere west texas.
