RE: Do you think Harleys should include some extras at purchase?
+2. I've owned one Honda and two Yamahas and now a Harley. Different manufactures, different bikes and in some cases different riders. I know I paid a lot for my harley, but so far I'm diggin the $hit out of it.

Fact is, if you want aHarleyyou're going tohave to accepta very different value proposition. Those of us who own and ride other bikes see this clearly, there is no way my RKC is a better quality pieceor certainly a better value than my BM or Honda.
But I wanted oneso I bit it, it's simple supply and demand, butI'm wellaware that Harley'sper unit profit is unequaled.

Nobody makes you sign on the line.....if you think you're getting screwed don't buy. I don't like center stands, my Yamaha Royal Star didn't come with a center stand, tool kit, or even bag liners. My 08 Ultra came with a tool kit that I haven't even opened yet....I put together the tools I want to carry and don't depend on them to give me a kit. I got 20% off about 3k worth of accessories when I bought the bike, just the discount would have bought a fairly reasonable jacket and helmet.
What extras do you get when you buy a new Ford or Chevy?? Guess I just don't get it....I got what I wanted with my purchase at a price I agreed to. What else is necessary??
Hey relax! I was just making an observation. I know that Harley owners are loyal, but blind loyalty is dangerous in any situation. There's nothing wrong with expecting more, even from Harleys. If that wasn't the case, they'd still be making engines that leaked oil all over the place and vibrated parts off as they ran.
You made the comment about Fords and Chevys? Well, if other car manufacturers offered al lot of extras at half the price then you'd demand it of Ford and Chevy too.
And center stands work just fine on a big bike. Don't believe it, ask someone with a Wheel Dock!!
Sorry, I really didn't mean to come across so strong. I'm not a blind Harley loyalist, only my last 2 bikes have been Harleys, otherwise Honda's and Yamaha's. I guess what I was trying to say is I would rather negotiate for what I want at the time of the sale, rather than have stuff added on as "freebees" because you know that nothing is ever really free, and what you might consider a really cool bonus item I might consider a useless piece of added junk....just like you happen to like center stands and I don't.....they take up room under the bike and require a flat hard surface to really work well. In most cases you can dic* her What dgator66 Said!!!
for a few things that are the most important to you. I would rather leave things fairly basic and let the negotiation come up with any add-ons that I want.
