Default ignition or kill switch

I've been reading lately that I should turn the motor off with the ignition switch rather than the kill switch. I have a 2008 RKC. Any truth about this? I've used the kill switch in the past.

I've always used the ignition, but if you want the "official" answer, check the MSF website.

Been ridin' since before kill switches were standard on bikes. You still have to turn the ignition off, so why do you need to kill the ignition source twice? You're not savin' any wear & tear on the ignition...............

When I bought my first Harley, an XL, I was told to always use the kill switch. The salesman said that there is a small electrical arc within the ignition switch if you use it to shut off the bike. Eventually it would wear out the ignition switch.

This is what I was told. So I always use the kill switch first and then turn off the ignition switch.

The only time I turn the kill switch off is when I park on a hill so as to remind me I am in a gear.

I turn off with kill switch all the time...2000 miles no issues yet.

The pattern for the TBW reset is Run on - Turn Ignitionon - wait 4 to 10 seconds - Turn Ignitionoff ---leave Run on but turn and wait for ignition3 more times.

I usually turn Ignition on then Run switch......I have not honestly tried reving and hitting the kill switch at the same time.

I can't believe there will be an issue either way. If you can't use the kill switch why is it on the bike !!! I always just turn off the ignition and never think about the kill switch.
