Craig's List is Awesome. But like previously said... Give no information. Let them email to the list and ask for their information. Keeps the spammers out.
I have sold almost an entire house worth of furniture.
Also, if it doesn't sell in 48 hours. It ain't gonna. Be careful... but it works great imho.
I have had good luck with CL. Yes you get the scammers, like any online classified, but they are easy to spot. I have bought, sold, and found my soon-to-be-bride on CL. She was very low mileage but not cheap[sm=icon_quiet.gif].
Bought and sold many items on Craigslist, including the purchase of my Sportster. Never had a problem. You may get a few scammer e-mails, but they are easy to spot. The previously posted cautions are good advice. Just make sure the transaction is face to face. If a large cashiers check is involved, go to the buyer's bank with the buyer so you know its good. Don't release the bike or title until everything clears.
I sold 2 bikes last month on CL. I have also bought a bike from CL. CL is free and costs you nothing more than your time to place the ad. I had those 2 bikes advertised for several months though I knew they would not sell until Spring. I did not have any spammers or "I'll send you a check for 10k and you wire back the difference". I did get a few lowballers and some that wanted to trade a POS truck or car but they were far and few.
What is nice is that it is local and people can come see the bike in person if they choose. On Ebay you may be looking at a bike that is on the other side of the country.
My ads never included a phone number. If they are interested they will reply to ad and they would send their number.
I've sold lots of things, including a car and motorcycle, on Craigslist. That said, their are LOTS of flakes out there. You just have to screen out the flakes and you'll find a lot of good people out there too.
Sold my last bike on CL instantly. Uploaded the ad at 11 PM, got a serious reply within 10 min. Buyer showed up next evening with a deposit and purchased at asking price. Worked great for me.
I purchased a new 08 Electra Glide in February and now I need to sell my 05 Goldwing.
Is Craigslist a good place to sell? YES
Besides the normal stuff is there anything special to watch out for?
What have been your experiences with Craiglist?
Thanks
Sold 2 Harley's on it and it was easy as pie. Yeah you get a lot of people wanting to trade and spam ers, but overall just sell to the first person who comes up with cash and be done with it. craigslist is a great idea, and can't believe it's free!
