thanks dawg ! that might just be what i want to do. Sounds better then what they want me to do.Sucks cause sometimes you cant just crack the trottle when moving the bike around. you can probably use 6th more now

08 FLHR here and no problem when letting out the THROTTLE regardless of engine speed.

I have a few hundred miles on my King, and I too have this "pinging" kinda like a little sand in a soup can rolling on its side, or a spring streatching. This is only while the clutch is pulled in, in 1st gear, and while coasting(coming to a stop)!
