Last couple times after slow stop and go trip home have, besides the smell of hot bike, I'm getting a faint smell of gas on the left side of the bike. Possible from the back jug not burning all the gas at low speeds?? Issue?? 07 UC 7800 miles
Possibly. Check for leaks, then pull the plugs to determine. A plug that is running rich will have a black sooty appearance. It could be from several causes. A normal plug will have a gray or light tan appearance.
I looked at all the posts about gas smell, have 3/4 full tank and can find no leaking gas at the line, no pressure in the tank. Could be fumes out the overflow line??? Only smell it when you bend down by the left rear side of the bike.
Captain Jim: Like you, I have a 2007 Ultra with 7500 mi. Recently, after a day of short distance rides, I have noticed the smell of gasoline after I have garaged my bike. I have determined that it is not unburnt fuel in the pipes; the odor is more forward, about mid-frame. I haven't noticed a sidedness as you have (L) versus (R). I will follow your thread in hopes of some enlightenment.
Just noticed it today, after two short rides. Not strong, but once parked outside and second time in the garage. I burned up on a 47 knucklehead many years ago, so I'm a little gas warry.
Stupid question here, but have you opened your fuel door to see if your gas cap is on and tight? One of the first times I filled up I left the gas cap at the station....didn't realize it until I was out riding and smelling gas fumes.

Not a stupid question at all. However, the gas cap was tight and secure each time.
