Hear is the cheap fix, Change the 50amp fuse under the seat. It cost about 6 bucks. Mine was doing the same thing and I change the fuse and it hasnt happined since.
Next time you are in express the same concern to he service manager not the service writer. If you have already talked to the manager get the general manager or even insist on a discussion with the owner. If you have to ,tell them you are keeping a diary and that your attorney gets an update after every incident and that a full investigation will be done in the event of your accident to determine if the dealer or HDMOCO has responsibility since you have dutifully reported the problem and you believe their product may cause you bodily harm. Now if you can say that with conviction I bet you they will get it right. Also ask for a loaner because their efforts are falling short and make sure you also ask for the name of the regional and district rep.
after i had about 1000 miles onmy '06 Ultra, it started stumbling when i started out from a stop sign/light...almost got rear-ended a couple times...
i didn't wait for the dealer to get MOCO involved...
i called customer service, and explained what was happening...and stressed that getting hit from behind was a big concern...
they asked me not to ride the bike, and that i will be contacted asap...
in about an hour or two, the dealer called to ask if i could bring the bike in...if i thought it was unsafe, they would send a trailer...
Great advice MACK. I've talked to the owner's son- the GM- the service manger and each said that they would get HDMOCO involved. I will take your advice and that of xkvator aqnd see where that leads.
whatever you do, don't tell hd customer service you have a lawyer involved unless you know the lawyer is filing a complaint on your behalf..... customer service will cut you off if they are told a lawyer is involved. been there done that.
hope you get the bike straightened out.
I had an 89 evo that did the same thing, would die whenever, no real rhyme or reason. Just every so often. I replaced the coil and never had another problem.
Are you saying it shuts down electrically, or just loses power to maintain speed
or accelerate?
If it just loses the second power to maintain or accelerate
My guess is the engine is sumping oil.
HD knows this problem exists and is recognized in the service manual.
2006 service manual 1-38 trouble shooting. yours should be in the same area.
Oil lubrication item number 6
I have been arguing with Thunder Mountain and Harley Davidson for over a year
now, that this is what is causing my problem.
They have checked everything else, rebuilt the top end under warranty, insisted
I needed the SERT because tuning was wrong.
They refuse so far to investigate the sumping. But we got a court date coming
up. If I get a fair judge and he let's me explain things, I might win.
One dealer already settled out of court with me.
If they test for it, run it hard, shut down (NO IDLING) and trailer it in for testing,
Or have them run it hard on the dyno 1/2 hr or so. shut down and check.
Good luck, but whatever you do don't let up on them til they find the cause.
You may have to be your own attorney or hire one.
