Have to agree with 08 BlackStreetGlider. That Bike would take a Harsh Tumble. Ooopps fell off the Trailer at the Legal Speed Limit. And Tumbled into a Boat Anchor.

I agree, from expierence. Wet sumping. Harley dealer argued that was not the problem. Put it on there dyno and the power dropped like a rock as the rpm's increased. 44 HP at the end of run. Problem was fixed by replacing an o-ring. 76 HP after repair. This was on my 08SG.

Are you saying it shuts down electrically, or just loses power to maintain speed
or accelerate?
If it just loses the second power to maintain or accelerate
My guess is the engine is sumping oil.

Lemon Law does not apply. Stick with HD, they will make it right when the "correct" diagnosis is determined. I understand it's frustrating, but the solution rests on your perseverence and patience. My take anyway. Best thoughts toward your resolution.

If you've tried everything listed above (except for the falling-off-the-trailer-fix) you might try replacing the crankshaft position sensor. That could cause the problem you describe if the sensor has become heat-sensitive, and they're fairly cheap and easy to replace. From my personal experiences, expecting a "Harley Tech" to figureANYTHING out is just wishful thinking!

Best of luck,

John

Have you officially filed a complaint with HD? Once that has been documented, Every time you take it in, is more proof of a problem. Have the shop or service manager or the same mechanic who works on it ride it home for the weekend or on their day off. I done that on mine twice, After they came back the second time, the service manager said, That thing is dangerous! Mine is a take off/slow speed problem. They think it is a heat related ECM problem. We're waiting for warm weather to find out. Everything else has been changed.

There was a recall on the 50amp fuse bolck that was mentioned in an earlier post. Check this website to see if it applies to your bike.

I found mine up there. Fortunately HD had already done the recall with the previous owner. But the issue definately sound electrical...i.e.50 amp fuse block...just like my issue.

Please make sure you have all the documentation.

In North Carolina there is a Lemon Law.... perhaps your state does as well.

If you've had the bike at the dealership for 3 visits to repair the same problem, you might be eligable for a replacement. you should check with a local lawyer before you procede.

Once you have the facts, then approach the dealership. Ask your salesman to sit in with the owner. Most owers do NOT want a public stink-fest and will work with you. Sugar works better than vinegar, but if they don't want to work.... alert the local media.... but only AFTER you've tried being the "nice guy"

Remember.... without the paperwork....you're just someone complaining...always keep that documention

I would ask them to take the bike in overnight, then having got a lawyer... have the lawyer write to them telling them you are not prepared to take the bike back until it is proven fixed due to it being unsafe to ride. Don't risk your life... have the lawyer take care of it, your bike is under warranty so they owe you a duty of care to figure it out!

Do check the 50 amp fuse though. I know there was aproblem with the 03 because I had it but I think they corrected it on later models.
