My 06 Ultra, now out of warranty, will die at any time. I've narrowed it down to the Run/Off switch. Whenever it starts to die I flip the switch to off and back to run and all is well for a while.I've taken the switch apart and burnished the contacts and it helps a while. Spraying with a good contact cleaner does just as much good. HD could never find the problem even having the bike for a few hundred miles. The worst time istaking off from a light/stop sign and making a turn and it wants to die.

My '07 Road Glide does the same thing.. When ever it wants it just shuts down... I can move the switch (toggle) and can restart it... Backfires once it fires up (sometimes).. Had had it to 2 different Dealers and it wont do it.. Like I said in has only happened 4 or 5 times....
Call H-D customer serivice #. In '86 I had a problem andtold them I was from a dealership. If they asked me anything else I just told them I was new, the boss was gone and I didn't have the info they needed. I got through to the technical service folks. I got to know the techs on a first name basis and they knew by bike on a VIN # basis. (It turned out my problem then was a flaw in the cases that allowed oil to pass fromthe motor to the primary. Cases were changed and problem solved.)
Id want moco in on it because telling them you want all new wiring harness before going to any news or papaers who will listen. Most companys dont like bad publisty. Here we have a news channel that loves this **** and usually mentioning it get results. Most time factory rep will make dealer fix it right.Personaly they did you big favor.I had warranty issue with chraom 10 years ago dealer said not his problem.Called the factory folks they got him on phone and said simply fix it no questions.guess what in 3 hours it was replaced,
My 2000 RG had the same issue as chuckb's bike and after chasing the problem for a while I tracked it down to the run/off switch. I spliced it a new switch assembly and the problem has been completely eliminated.[sm=biker2.gif]
If your power shuts off completely and you have to roll to the side of the road and after a period will start up.......it's gotta bethe main circuit breaker that is forward ofthe battery and just overthe rear cylinder in the frame well.....had to change mine out 3 times....I got a good one and no more problems...there was a recall on the circuit breaker back in 2004-05 I believe. They may have had some "old ones" left on the assembly line somewhere. Have your dealer check it out!!!
Had an 06 Road King Custom that I was having problems with. It would sputter and stall at will. Had it in several times. Injectors changed. Intake gasket. Several other things I don't recall. Final straw was stalling out while crossing a major highway. I went and had a nice sit-down with the owner of the dealership. Long story short they ended up buying it back and got me on a new bike. They dealt with the problem with Harley themselves while not keeping me from riding.
