I'm considering adding highway pegs to my 2007 Electra Glide Classic. I'm checking out two of HD's highway pegs, the Adjustable Highway Peg Mounting Kit - 360 Degrees (50832-07A) and Adjustable Highway Peg Mounting Kit - Short Angled (50830-07A).
While the mechanisms are obviously different, what are the functional differences? Is there a reason to pick one over the other?
I have an '08 SG and bought the HD long angled adjustable mounts and wasted $100. They ratchet in many different positions but to get themin a comfortable postion for me(my inseam is 32")I had to move them very low on the engine guards. Then my feet hit them when I would go for the brake or shifter at times. So now I am either going for the regular Billet clamps from HD or the Kuryakyn Mark III mounts that come out from under the front of your floor boards. A buddy of mine has the Kuryakyns on his Fatboy and they are great in looks and foot position however they are $189 compared to $89 for the Billets.
I was advised to get the Long Angled Adjustable mounting kit to fit on my Ultra because of thefairing lowers. I found out later that the Short Angled would have fit fine, and I would have prefered them because of the longer reach allowed by them. I cannot advise about the 360's.
If you are going to get the angled type....save yourself some cash an dget the Kuryakyn. Looks identical, and functions the same IMO
I don't think they are the same. The Kuryakyn is open ended were the peg mounts which makes them harder to fold up when not in use. As for the long and short HD style I think you can order the short arms seperately, without the complete set.You should have a parts list with the set you bought. I have the short. I'm still trying to find the most comfortable location for my legs.
I have the 360's on both my Heritage and Ultra, and I like them. Good variety of options to get the pegs right where you want them and at the best angle. They worked especially well getting the pets out past the lowers on the Ultra. They mount up solid and secure, but are easy to adjust if needed.
Dealer let me carry them out to the bike for a test fit. I' 5'10 and choose the short ones. They look neater and not as bulkie. The 360's are nice, but once you adjust them who ever really moves them again.
