I'm trying to install the Passenger Foot board Covers (50246-00) on my new RK Classic. However, I'm totally lost. It appears that the holes in the current covers are higher than the ones in the new covers..... how exactly I do this? help will be greatly appreciated it
I installed pass covers on my EG and had to mark and centerpunch and drill
two holes per footboard for installation of self-tapping screws.
(Per supplied instructions).
Read the directions...You have to put the covers up against the footboards(just like they will be installed), then mark where the holes will be drilled(an automatic centerpunch works well here), then use a 5/32 drill and carefully drill the holes JUST THROUGH the boards( not right on thru the rubber pads). How do I know this? I READ THE DIRECTIONS...
I just did this on my Ultra. Thinking that the black cover plates whee nothing but that hard plastic crap, I just held the covers over the black cap and began trying to screw them in with the self tapping screws. Lo and behold I could get them started. I did however leve a mark where I needed to drill. And for the record, those plastic black covers are in fact METAL!!!!

Didn't read the instructions first did you ???? They are in the package for a reason and sometimes, in the case are very informative !!!
I bought the covers from a third party with no instructions provided. I thought about drilling first but was difficult for me to believe that Harley will produce some part that will need drilling for proper installation. I did also looked over the net for instructions, but no luck.
