Used a heat gun and peeled it off no residue

I was told by a body and paint man to use dental floss.

Heatgun is the best thing. if you use dental floss make sure it is not the wax kind.

Don't do it. The only thing you can do thats worse, is remove the tags from your mattress

ORIGINAL: simpkins

I have recently finished my winter mods on my '06 FLHXI, including V&H, PCII, air kit, quick detach passager back rest, round air cover, smoked turn signal covers, removed heel shifter, Streamliner shift peg, etc., etc.

I removed the 2 orange reflecters that were mounted to the front down tubes. These were held in place by 2 sided tape or something. Was easy enough, just pulled them off and used my thumb nail to remove a majority of the residue that remained. I used gasoline on a rag to remove the rest. Now this looks great, but I have one more reflector. This is a single red reflector stuck to the horizontal chrome piece directly above the tail light. Has anyone attempted to remove this one? Will my advanced removal technique described above work on this one or damage the finish?

I took mine off too, just pulled it off and cleaned off the goo with some rubbing alchohol. Problem was the damn thing left a rub mark in the paint on the fender. If the dealers are installing these they put mine on too damn close to the fender...
