I ran the Elite 3's on my FXRS. I got 15,000 miles out of the rear tire on that bike. I may try them on the RG after the front ME880 is done. I just put a new back tire on. I've had the bike for 11 months and 25,000 miles. I've been through the DunlopRun Flattire that was on the bike when I bought it,1 DunlopD402 and 1 ME880 since I've owned it.
MU85-16 D402 rear has a load rating of 77 (= 908 lb.) The closest sized D404 rear tire, a 150/80, has a load rating of 71 (= 761 lb.) Putting one on a tourer is taking a big chance!
The 404 and the 402 are definately different tires and they have different load ratings. I would not consider putting a 404 on a dresser.
I made the mistake of putting a 404 on the rear of the wife's Heritage Softail just to save some bucks, and because the dealer told me they were basically the same tire. She got 5,000 miles out of that tire when she usually gets between 10,000 and 12,000 on a rear tire.
