yep, took around 3 months to get mine done. paint is definitely the most excruciating thing for a bike. you will be doing carwheels before its over, but a month after getting it you will forget about all the waiting and be smiling when people check your stuff out. paint is definitely a winter mod.

yep. as all of the others have said... painters suck.

but they only suck until you get your parts back.

I was told a week for the single color job on my RK. I finally got my pully back after 7 weeks. the rest of the tins took nearly 3 months.

I guess I am just lucky or deal with a different set of painters. If I was paying someone to do something and they told me a week and 3 weeks later it was still not done I would lose my mind. I would be picking up my parts and taking them to a true professional who has not been sniffing his product.

Don't get me wrong **** happens and things go wrong, but a true professional sticks to his time lines if that means working late nights or weekends, and if he / she can't he keeps the customer informed and up to date on why he / she is not on schedule.

Just my .02 cents.

Jeff

Plus 1 on the Pro Painter and holding timelines!

Took 2-3 weeks for my workincluding clear, cut and polish. If I was to do it again...i'd buy a set of take off tins and have those painted so that they didn't hold me up. Then you can always keep the original tins in case their ever needed. Complete takeofftins are going for 1500.00 for a SG and that to me is worth it. Post up some pics when you get your fairing back.

i have never had a painter stick to the timeline. closest was 1 week over. the others were so late i just wanted my tins from that a$$hole. (then you get your tins and you forget about the bad blood and drama. then they are your best friend.) i can't handle the mood swings . i'm not painting this one.

I do a little painting...mostly fine art airbrushing. Personally, I have to be in the mood to do it.
I know some guys that are very disciplined, and I think that's the key.
Gotta find someone who treats it like a career...gets up and goes to work, no procrastinating. (huge factor with artsy people)
Should keep in mind though, it's a lotta work (for a good paint job...done properly).
Best kept as a winter project me thinks.

One thing about customizing stuff, especially the guys who actually do this for a living it is either feast or famine. Either you have no work and your sitting there wondering if your going to survive another week then all of a sudden it hits and you go from a quick 3-5 day turn around to a one week turn around to a 6 week turn around in just a few weeks because everybody sends their stuff to be done at one time but its all part of the job and it gets tough dealing with people who are irate because the turn around jumped up so quick and everybody always thinks that you are only working on their stuff when actually you are dealing with hundreds.

Absolutely...BadX nailed it. When people do good work, they tend to get swamped.

Well I shopped and shopped for the right airbrusher. I was going to ship to www.jeillusions.com and have hime do it. I rode by my dealer here in Thornton Colorado and showed him this design and he saidthey can do it really 3D and do a way better job. I was blown away cause I thought it was sick looking the way it was. The guy that does the work is in Loveland and a few dealers here in Colorado swear by this guy. He must be worth the wait. I guess it really is a long process for what I want done. Hell, I am only doing half the fairing! Good thing I'm not doing the whole bike yet. Looking forward to posting the pics next weekend.
