Installed the 1" extensions today, huge difference in comfort level, feet feel much more relaxed and planted. Never imagined 1" would make such a significant difference. Had a bit of a hard time on the install as I didn't use a lift and difficulty fitting one bolt because it would only go as far as the thread (left board / upper), eventually bought 5/16" threaded rod and cut to length, this allowed to insert from outside in and a much easier fitment. The boards are from SOOS and the quality is great, simple install and good instructions. You really don't need the instructions because like most things they sound much more complicated than they actually are once you look at them. I recommend this to anyone that is on the fence about the extensions.
Only thing is now I may need a longer peg for the shifter because I find myself turning the front of my foot towards center to get better contact with shifter. Does anyone know if there is an extension available to bring the front shifter pad out about 3/4" or so. This way it will sitmore centeredto the toe area.
I don't know how aggressive you ride and weather or not you scraped making turns prior to installing the extentions...
BUT...
I removed my 1" kit from SOOS after I almost flipped my bike making a left turn...
The boards at the OEM mounting point will allow the floorboard to scrape first which has give to it...
With the 1" kit the first thing to his is the floorboard front mount which is MOUNTED SOLID... so when you hit it you teeter on it and can potentially take your wheel right off the ground...
I have the 1" kit and love it. I did raise the front board to their upper position. Before when I scraped without any extensions it was the bracket that hit NOT the floor board as fiv_oh_po_po states. So adding the extensions and raising the boards I would say gives me the same lean angle I had before (scraped my bracket once with out the extensions and once with). If you want to lean like a speed racer around turns why ride a touring bike? I'm 5'10" and don't mind the boards at their higher position.
Anyway, I would recommend these to anyone wanting more comfort.
