I suggest you stay in Marathon and simply ride into Key West, it's very close by and the cost, amenities, ambience andatmosphere are way better in Marathon when you want to kick back.
Can't recommend a place to stay, but I'll tell you this, if you haven't been in the sun yet make sure you wear long sleeves or lots-o-sunscreen. Rode from Islamorada to Key West and got fried...try to find a long sleeve shirt in Key West [:@]. Lesson learned
Was going to check out Simonton Court next time I went down. They have a web site and lower rates in the low season starting June 1. They are about a block from Duvall
Try to stayin KW and use a taxi at night for the "Duval Crawl! The cops are thick and specialize in DUI. Be sure to hit the No-Name Pub (use to be a brothel) on Big Pine Key (mile marker 30.5, you'll need directions, but well worth the stop). Sunset on Mallory Square with the street performers is neat. I would also recommend Schooner Wharf Bar, Shawna Key Bar (off of Flagler), CaptTony's,Green Parrot, the Bull, and the Garden of Eden (on top of the Bull), all in KW. I you have the bucks take the the Fast Cat to the Dry Tortugas for a morning adventure (they serve boose & lunch). On the way down stop at Robbie's (mile marker 82, I think, gulf-side) and feed the big fish-Tarpon. If you need bike service hit Mama-Joe's Motorcycle (Harley) in Marathon (mile marker 49), he and his woman are solid people.Go the KW Chamber of Commerce for a hotel, off season rates should apply, book early!
