Just received the Tour Pak spoiler kit with LED light bar. Anyone here have experience with installation. My primary question has to do with using the supplied template; how did you align it to the TP? I have the Premium TP luggage rack already installed; do I have to remove this in order to facilitate the spoiler installation? Please help if you have experience. Thanks.
1st yes you have to remove your tourpack rack also u have to cut the template and line it up with the tour pack use some blue masking tape to hold it..Also before u start take your time and run the wire through the spoiler use a some wd40 or soap and a strong wire that is the hardest partit a real pain in the azz..Also when u drill the 5 holes start small and work your way up..Any question shoot me a email Jactan@aol.com
Good stuff from 07JakeelwoodHD. I've installedthem on my last two bikes. You'll need to remove the rack for access with a drill for the mounting holes (and fit of the template). I've not cut the templates but did spend time lining of the marks on the templates with the edges of the cover and the mounting bolt holes for the rack, looking for symmetry in the fit. Masking tape is a great way to stabilize the template when you've got it in place.
I deviated from the wire harness installation by tapping in a set of contacts and socket into the wire harness in the trunk. That way if I ever need to remove the Tour Pak I don't have to rip wires all the way back to the battery compartment. If you follow the distructions and run the harness to the area under the seat you won't get brake lights for the light bar: if I remember, one of the pins have to be moved to a different position in the light bar plug.
I used a scratch all to mark the holes on the template and use a"Brad bit" to drill the holes. It makes perfect holes and no skidding or sliding around. See attached.
Exactly what I did... I had trouble finding the plug to connect it. If you do as well, its deep down in the belly of the bike in front of the battery.
