Default Street Glide Exhaust Recommendations?

Picked up my 2006 Black Cherry Street Glide yesterday here in Orange County, California..
Sweet Bike, compared to many other bikes and even other brands I have ridden this bike really handles superbly and looks nice, comfortable, nothing but great things to say..

However, first thing I will buy is an exhaust system, I see most of you are using Reinhart True Duals, Hard Krome T-Rex or Vance Hines?? So heres why I love forums like this, all of you Street Glide Owners who have already done the homework, tell me what sounds and performs the best??

Also, need a Power Comander III and a Screaming Eagle Air Cleaner or ? I want this bike to run stronger and sound really nice but not super loud, just a nice harley sound with some extra performance hopefully...

Thanx

Rick

This is my one and only recommendation. These pipes absolutely ROCK in quality, engineering, performance, appearance and sound. Thick and solid with NO clamps. No other true dual compares! Chrome billet tips and removeable baffles as well.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Asking what exhaust to go with will be hard as there is NO ONE exhaust thats the best, just opinions on what people think is the best. If possible try and hit up some dealerships to see if you can listen and look at all the above mentioned exhaust your considering. Then go with what YOU like not what everyone on here votes on.

Yes you will want to change out the intake and when doing that go with some sort of programmer. Some people like the SERT and some like the PCIII with others using the simple FuelPack from V&H's or the Techlusions or the DFO? Do your research and pick what you think is best for you.

Check out the DIY Forums for information on all of the above.

I went with the V&H's Oval because I love the look and the quality has always been known to be there with V&H's atleast in the sportbike community and can say the quality is great with the slipons and waiting for my headpipes to get delivered now.

Also when you pick your programmer if the SERT or PCIII make sure to have the bike dyno tuned. When picking out a place to have your bike dyno tuned MAKE SURE the tech has experience tuning bikes with what ever programmer you choose otherwise you will get crappy results.

The typical time needed for dyno tuning should be 2-4 hrs at most but on the average 3hrs.

Now with that get to researching!!

I agree with what Cheyenne says. Also decide if you are looking for max power or just a certain sound. Then go listen to them before you buy. I originally had the SE Performance Touring slip on's and really liked the mellow sound and they performed well at 96 horse, but I decided to go for max power and settled on Super Trapp 2 into 1's. I have not dyno'd them yet but plan on soon and should pick up 5-10 more horse. I am also happy with the mellow around town sound and they bark good when on it. They are very tolerable with 2 up riding for noise. My point is it gets expensive doing twice, so do your homework first. Good luck.

Personally, I favor the DG Hard Krome T-rex, as I should considering that there is a brand new set of them sitting here waiting to get that first 800 miles on the bike.

Just got the SG back from dyno test on Monday, Feb 13th. I went with V&H true duals, SE intake & SERT. Rode Tuesday for 2 hours, ran flawlessly. Had some popping before dyno time. Absolutely love the sound & performance of the entire package.

That's my 2 cents.

I installed the V & H True Duals and Ovals, Stage I air intake and the Fuel Pak in my '05 RKC. My question is if no further engine mods will be done, why would I want to install a tuner that requires dyno tuning to get everything right? Seems like an unecessary expense if the simple FuelPak is all you need.

Am I missing something?

The tuner is for people who want to get the MOST out of their mods done to the bike. The fuelpack works, but if your wanting the most from your mods a tuner and dyno time is the way to go.
