Less than 1K on the bike so far and they have already come in handy. A dump truck dumped half a load of fill dirt in the middle of the roadthree cars in front of me. I didn't see it happen and the cars were swinging into the right turn lane like they were going to the mall, when the car I was following went into the turn lane, there was the huge pile of dirt in the road. I don't know if it was so close that a non-ABS equipped bike would have caused me any trouble, but the ABS did kick in.
I can see where it is going to be very nice to have.
After riding the work bike with ABS, I will never buy another bike without it. You can still threshold brake with it and if you brake to point of lock the ABS will kick in and save your hind end. Worked like a champ in the 40 mile per hour brake and escape exercise.
I have only had the Ultra Classic w/ABS for a week and have not had to use it, but I am glad it is there. Coming off a GoldWing with ABS and 61,000 miles and never had to use it. I could grab the front brake and stomp the rear brake as hard as I wanted and never locked either tire. It also made the GoldWing worth more and sell better when I got rid of it.

ABS was the one reason why I traded in my 2002 Electra Classic for a 2008 Ultra. First weekend I got it I went ofr a testride and started doing hard brakes until I felt the ABS kick in. I now know what it feels like when the ABS engages.
I never needed it up to now out on the roads but I sure am glad I have it!

This for me seems to be a question of why did they wait so long. Pickedmy bikeup last August, one of the first off the line. Went to a wet parking lot a tested them , just to see what they felt like, I only had enough guts to bring it up to 35mph, then nailed it, "WOW" very impressive, complete control. I made a flip and did the same thing at 45 just great control, no I did not go any faster.. you can feel the front brake lever pulsating in an ABS event., Simply,, Your gonna love it. Tim
Man, the day I picked up my 08 RK, I hit the access road, then 60 mph, then slammed both brakes to see what happens. No drama, just be ready for it....hard fast slowdown to a stop.
As for the bitchin about the squeals, when that happens on mine, I will make a trip to the autozone and by that disc brake quiet and apply it. Then go out and ride somemore.
This bugger has 600 miles on it and fixing to make a 6000 mile trip...it is all good. Check my mpg today and I am getting 50 mpg at 70-75 cruise.....can't ask for more. With the airkit and rineheart eaglebeaks she sounds good, runs good, and looks good.
I really liked and missed my 07SG, but, this one is rapidly overtaking those feelings. She will be perfect when the shorter shocks get here next week and I lower the rear like it is on the SG.
