Default Street Glide bars

Anyone here change there bars on their street glide? I am thinking of the Wild ones 575. Think they work with the stock cables. Went 300 miles Sunday and still get that kink in my neck. Want a little more pull back and my arms raised an inch. I was thinking some smaller apes but can't be blowing anymore cash til next year.

I'm glad you brought that up, I was riding my SG and had a kink pop into my neck. I was thinking the same thing, a little pull back and an inch up.

I like G$'s that are in this pic. But I just spent over $3500 on paint and exhaust and can't afford $1000 on bars and new cables. Just wonder who is riding with the Wild1 575's and know if they really helped. Why the heck didn't Harley pull them back a little? Love my SG and won't trade it for the world. Just my only complaint about it.

Do a quick search and you'll find all kinds of useful information on this one.

If you're thikning about doing the install yourself, here's an EXTREMELY helpful link that other members of the forum have shared with me.

http://www.kenandjudy.us/Harley%20Pi...Bars/index.htm

The service manual will still be a big help, but this will at least give you an idea of what's involved in the switch. As far as the stock cables are concerned, everything with the expception of the Clutch cable will work fine. I think the link above addresses this, but in order to make the stock clutch cable work you can no longer run it through the fairing. If you still want it to run up and out through the fairing you'll need to go with a +3" cable.

I helped a buddy install these on his 05 Ultra (same as SG) and he was able to use the stock set up with these mods:
1) You have to remove the clutch cable from running thru the grommet inside the fairing and re-route it outside down by your crash bar.
2) You will have to gently massage (bend) the front brake line also.

Keep in mind these bars require that you run the wiring thru the bars so you may have to get an extension for the FBW. e-mail DAWG and he can tell you for sure on that one.

IF it were my bike I would go with a +3 clutch cable and keep it inside the fairing !!!

08 is fly by wire, so diff set up.. Kromewerks 200505's or 300502'sw..

Flanders 650-08725's..
08 Heritage police bars 55954-00

the Kromewerks are about 68 bucks and the Harley police bars are not expensive.. Flanders are.

Then so are the 1.15 Wild ones of various #'s...

O.K. Have I been lied to? I have a '08 Street Glide with the Fly-By-Wire, I purchased a set of 13" apes with cables (brake & clutch) took it to the dealer to have everything installed. I was told they couldn't install the bars, because HARLEY hasn't given them permission to extend the FBW harness. I'm in Houston if anyone know of a dealer who will do this please let me know. I feel I can do it, but I'm sure they will say I voided my warranty. Has anyone else heard anySH** like this?[/align]

They are blowing smoke up your azz..!!! Probably because he doesn't know sh*t..
Evidently he doesn't belong to or read posts here on the HD forum, and does not stay current with the new 08 FBW stuff.. Typical stealership loser "I don't know so I lie to you to cover my azz" !!
