The Today Show was doing a report on high fuel costs and alternatives. They had a dealer claiming that the Harleys were getting 55 MPG. ROTFLMAO [sm=WTFsgign.gif] Has anyone ever gotten over 50 MPG???
Hmmmm, I just bought an '08 and I really tried to stretch a tank, got about 45. Now, drivin' it like I mean it, I'm about 35 or so. If I wanted to, I could probably get that down to around 32, just don't need that many RPMs. But 54, PUHLEASE! Oh wait, I bet I can do that in Wiscionsin on a good wind day if I'm ridin' east. Now, if I could just get the lake drained, I could ride straight to Michigan!
The local dealer had a commercial on the radio about fuel economy, the announcer stated that the model line up gets a combined 55mpg. So from the lowest to the highest, still not too bad though.

Wait until it is good and broke in. I'm getting mid 40s out of my 07 and the 08s have improvements over the 07s to help with fuel economy. My mileage didn't climb to the mid-forty's until after about 5k miles.

Why do most "assume" that the dealer is lying or making false claim when they speak of higher gas mileage, you do know harley does produce other bikes beside touring bikes?????.........................
