Thanks - so just to try and wrap this up for me - for your patience.
The 13" works great for you given your height, etc.
Is that also with a stock seat or the 'stang seat?
I guess I'm trying to over calc this ;-)
I will soon have a SG with stock seat (to start) and am a tad less than 6'1" with maybe a 33" inseam. When I'm sittin in the saddle it's about 37" to the top of my unhelmted head.
Just trying to determine which height will take the air over the top of the ole helmet.
My 9" SSC is awesome. Other than a bit of shake under 25 mph (+/- 5mph) it works just as I had hoped. I'm 6ft. with 32" inseam and a H-D Stripper seat and the air goes up and over me whereas the stock deflector blasted in the eyes. IMHO well worth the $113.00.

Got a guess?

Pete,
The 13" is perfect for me with the stock seat. With the Mustang I prefer a 14", and Cee Bailey's is making one up for me right now. Just because it's right for me doesn't mean it will be right for you though. There are so many variables - how tall the rider is sitting in the seat, length of arms, handlebar pullback, seat height etc... What I recommend that you do is buy a cheap windshield from a company like Fastaire (about $25). Take a guess at what height you want - maybe start with a 10". Add 3" to whatever height you end up deciding on and that is the size you will need for the SSC. I have a couple of Fastaire shields - 8" smoke and 10" clear. The 10" ended up being perfect for me with my stock seat and new Chubby's WO575 bars. I ordered a 13" SSC and it was perfect. Good luck!
UGGA, have you had a chance to use this windshield in the rain? How about the dreaded EG updraft behind the stock shield, is it still there? Thanks
Milehog,
I haven't ridden in the rain yet with the SSC. To be honest, I'm too much of a wimp to ride in the rain anymore. Done it way too many times, and I hate having to clean the bike afterwards. It's not so much that I don't like getting wet, I just don't like the bike getting wet!
As for the "dreaded EG updraft", I don't get any. Frankly, I never noticed it with the stock 4" windshield. I don't have enough experience on EG's to make a valid comparison. I've always ridden Road Kings in the past. All that I can tell you is that the airflow from the SSC is very smooth and I get no pushing from the rear. I'm a big fan of the SSC!
thanks for the post on the windshields. Ive been looking for one like I saw on a roadglide up at the dealership. I went to Cee Baileys site and there it was 10" clear. Much cheaper than the MoCo's shields. So since the whole front end has to be replaced (wreck) I might as well get a new look for it too.
Doug, I assume you are looking over the 13"? Am I correct? I know you mentioned shake in the shield at low rpm's but how bad or annoying is it? I'm close to pulling the trigger but not sure of the size. I'm currently riding with a 12" stock HD shield for the winter and am happy with the protection although I do get some push from behind. The reason I'm thinking change is strictly cosmetic. Also, my SG is black, would I be better served with the opaque black or the dark smoked gray.

Hi Frank.
Yes, I am looking over the 13" SSC. Remember, the 13" SSC is only the equivalent of a 10" HD shield. Just take 2" off of your present 12" shield and that is the height of a 13" SSC.
As for the shaking, I've grown accustomed to it. It no longer bothers me in the least. It's still there, but only at idle.

To reiterate what Streetrunner said, which do you prefer, the opaque black or dark smoke windshield? I can't decide between the 12 or 13" model, and I kinda figure if I go with the smoke and its just a tad high, I can partially see through the shield. I cut down my stock windshield to measure 9" from the top of the outer fairing to the top of shield; and I can easily see over that. I would think that the shield coming back toward you would make it easier to see over as well...so I'm heavily leaning toward the 13".
