Default SLICK TRICK # 1

I wanted to keep the tops of my bags from scuffing from the duffle I strap across the seat.
I found some tinted cling film (several tints avail) at Auto Zone. It was a big role and ran $14.
I made a template of the top and cut out a couple. This stuff just clings to the surface, and lifts off w/o leaving any residue.
When I got to my destination and unpacked, I justpeeled off the mylar as I wiped down the bike.
Be sure to clean the top of your bag carefully before applying. I would recommend cleaning the plastic with water and a clean hotel towell too! NOthing like hotel towells, My bike really likes 'em.

LOL, glad to here I'm not the only one who takes advantage of all those towels hanging there. Maybe that'll be our next poll, do you clean your windshield with hotel towels before you leave.

Thanks for the cling film tip.

On the subject of hotel towels....I learned from riding with an older brother who was the road captain for a Goldwing group for many years, hotels really hate it if you use their good towels to clean bugs and stuff off bikes because bug guts frequently put permanent stains on the towels, and you may end up finding extra charges added to your bill. But nearly all hotels are more than willing to give you some of their older raty towels to use for your bike. I've stayed at several and asked for some when I checked in and they have always given me a handful and were actually glad that I asked rather than using the towels from the room.

I'd like to 2nd that advice about ASKING OF OLD TOWELS< I was ASKED when i registered at a motel in NC, to please not use there towels to wash my bike. I hadn't even Registered and they forwarned me. to there credit they did offer me, other towels. MY Point being they must have this problem often, WE as riders can REPECT there livelyhood,

Good tip! I was looking at some shelf liner that had no sticky just "cling" type, it's even cheaper.

Well, we flushed out some straits with that one, boys...
The best policy I've found for on the road bike care is to carry a real fuzzy micro fiber with you (Auto Zone). I like to rinse it, add a little shampoo, soak (damp mop for those that remember 'work')the windshield and lightly wipe down the rest of the bike. Then I like to rinse it clean, wring it almost dry and finish the process. After 5-6 days on the road I've found this will bring me back home in fairly good shape. And, it is an opportunity to maybe see something that is out of place.
