Default Handlebars for Roadking Classic

I am thinking about changing the handlebar set up on my 06 Classic. Mainly to hide the wires, but I also want to improve the comfort for long hauls as much as possible. Anyone with experience on this?

It's almost impossible for others to recommend bars for another rider.

Riders are all different and most have different opinions on what is
a comfortable bar. Some like a lot of pullback where others like very
little. Some like wide beach type bars where others prefer narrow .
Rise can go from almost non-existent to 16' apes.Lots of combinations
out there to be had.

You need bars that fit you and make you comfortable. We don't
know your height, arm length,etc.,etc., This will play an important
part of what might be comfortable for you.You do not need
what somebody elses opinion of a good bar for you might be.Go to get
togethers with lots of bikes and see what fits you.Try some out
and then make a decision.

As for brands Wild 1 has good looking bars that accept internal wiring.

Think I may have interpreted the question incorrectly. If you are asking
about the difficulty of internal wiring the bars it isn't that bad.

Couple of links on help in doing the wiring.

This link is specific for a Road King.

Good luck.

I changed the bars on my 06 RK Classic almost immediatly after I bought it. The stock bars were downright painful for me. I went with Harley's reduced reach bars for the Road King (#56152-04). They're drilled for concealed wiring, and I didn't even need the switch wire extension kit, since there's enough inside the nacelle. They seem to be shaped a lot like the stock bars on my buddy's Road Glide. The hand position is more comfortable too, since it's angled outward, rather than pointing more backward like the stock bars and the RK high bars. I'm 6' tall, and they fit me perfectly.

The stock handlebars on the Road King Classic are terrible. I changed the bars on my 2000 Road King Classic to the Wild Ones Chubby's WO508. The difference in comfort was night and day for me. Like Oliver said above, everyone is built differently, and what works for one may not work for another. However, I have never heard ANYONE who liked the stock bars on a Road King Classic. I loved my Chubby's - they gave me much more pullback than the stock bars, which is what I needed. I'm getting ready to put some Chubby's WO575 bars on my Street Glide.

Hey Im 6'3 and HATED the stock bars on my 01 RKC. I tried some aftermarket bars I had on my Heritage but on the RKC, didnt work. I saw a post on a forum about a fellow who called Wild One direct for some "2nds" I bought some 518 and absolutely loved them!! I had to lengthen the wires and ran them inside the bars, and also had to go 2" over cables--so braided it was. Gave the bike a great clean look, and made all day rides no problem!

I also found that some nice highway pegs off the engine guard let me "kick back" with no shoulder pain

I believe the 2nds from Wild One were $104 and had 2 small dimples in the chrome where they would never be seen.

I went with the Harley Road King High Bars (part # 555954-00) 4 1/2" taller and 2" narrower. I'm 5'10 and I like the way they fit me. Another nice thing is you can still use stock cables, they only cost 50 bucks.

Same here. Great price, they're chrome and the comfort worked out great for me. I'm 6-1, 210 and these were a big imporvement over the stock bars. They're not drilled for internal wiring but it was not a difficult job. All you need is a Dremel and a little patience. Really cleaned up the look. I'm happy.

Ditto what Doug says,
I'm 5'9" and was getting constant arm, neck, and back pains with those lousy stock bars. Put a set of Wild 1 W0508 bars on and they are a dream compared to the stock. They still keep the RK look, but drop back about another 2-3 inches allowing you to sit up straight with a better hand position. hid the wires and braided all the cables while I was at it.
