I know the HW speakers and amp are Close to $800.
How much are the Hog Tunes Speakers and amp together? I know the speakers are $99 but can't find a price of the amp anywhere
That is exactly the opposite of what my buddy said doing an A-B comparison. He said the Hog Tunes sounds good, just the Hawg Wired sounds a lot better. I'm waiting until I have 800.00 laying around and going Hawg Wired.
See, I don't agree with that. If you equate really reallyLOUD with good sound (& a lot of people do) then the Hawg Wired would definitely be your choice. To me however, the quality of the sound from the Hog Tunes setup is excellent although not as loud & you don't have to waste $800 on it.
The other thing is, even if the HW DID sound WAY better, at 60 mph on a Harley over the wind noise & throaty pipes you would never hear the difference anyway.........

No - I have been an audiophile for over 25 years. I spent many years chasing technical specs. I have owned some extremely good equipment and some so-so equipment. When it comes to amplifiers and speakers, more often than not, you get what you pay for period. That does not mean there isn't some really expensive junk out there. In this case I'm fairly certain this is performance at a given price point. It is what it is. BTW the friend i quoted is not the only person to comment to me about how they feel about the Hog Tunes sound quality. FWIW.
Nothing bad to say about hogtunes, had them since 07. Love them I just got the speaker for the lowers, just installed them. Going to road test this week and take pixs
How can anyone expect to get good sound quality at 50-80mph, with the wind as your background noise?
I wouldn't consider myself as an audiophile because I have always refused to spend the kind of dollars that would be required to give me that badge of honor. I would consider myself to be knowledgeable in the electronics area, especially installation & sound quality, after spending nearly 15 years in the retail electronics business.
So...my .02 is this.
1. Customer service is always worth paying extra for. According to the others here, kudos to Pez for that.
2. Higher quality sound without distortion is always good. In our application, this does require louder due to the wind noise. Therefore, higher quallity louder sound requires an amplifier. Period.
3. Easy install is always good, especially if you or your friends don't have the know how to dospecialized stuff
4. There is always a market for any product
5. I have always hated YMMV on the Internet, especially when it comes to sound. Why? Because myopinion will ALWAYS vary from someone else when it comes to sound, even if I have the exact same products in the exact same situation. Therefore, here's my conclusions:
A: Hog Tunes is a good product(s) for some people. Too danged expensive for me, not enough power for me, but I know that it easy to install and will be plenty of sound for some. The good service included in the cost is a definitive bonus!
B: Hawg Wired is a good product(s) for some people. Too danged expensive for me, close to enough power for me, easy to install, etc.
C: If you have knowledge, know how and time, you can find different options...maybe as good or better for you. Might be what I got, might not be. But here is something you can never get away from... SPECS NEVER LIE! (so long as they are measured by specific standards) Nor does real world experience.
The conclusion for audio is the same for exhaust or picking out a motorcycle. Go somewhere that has a lot of what you're looking for being used in the application you will use it in. Listen to it, lay hands to it (if you can), ask questions of the people using it, then make a decision.
I really like my hog tunes but they actually do distort just a little at high volume. But I thought ALL speakers distort at near full volume, especially without an amp. I will be ading the hog tunes amp soon. No way will I spend $800.00 for perfect sound when I have wind noise and loud pipes.
I'll say it again. I never heard of so many people that havehad problems with a speaker. Hog tunes must have a tremendous amount of warranty claims!!!!!!!

I don't know where you're getting your count from but you actually hear very little about Hogtunes going bad. Besides if a speaker goes bad after 2 years in a motorcycle with the volume cranked up all the way I don't see that as being too bad. I've been using the hogtunes since my bike wasa couple months old. cracked a magnet in my stock speakers and rather then have it replaced to break again I bought the hogtunes. Sure I had one go bad, but again Pez replaced it with no questions asked.
I have the hogtunes speakers both front & backand the Hogtunes rear pods on my tourpak,"I" think they sound great,I've e-mailed pez with plenty of questions,"always" replied back promptly! I've yet to have a single issue with these speakers, and if i should, wont think twice about contacting pez, knowing he would make it right! I think he has good products, awesome customer service.
enough said!
I got my Hogtunes for my bike in 06. Man did they sound good. But they havent held up. I e-mailed Pez about it. I'm sorry people, but I am not into playing e-mail tag
maybe one day, one of the I.T. computer guys can come up with some kind of messaging system ,that is private.
