hwy 44 across sothern SD is a nice ride alot better than interstat a lot of river bottom land and takes you right into the bad lands spearfish canyon is a must ride and devils tower is a must see also take 24 out of Bell fousch takes you in the back way through Hulette 2 real good biker freindly bars for a rest stop I live about a 120 miles from Rapid City in Gillette Wy any thing in the hills is a good ride If you do leave early in the morning or late eaving watch for deer !!! if you run into problems or need some thing let me know Have fun

I was out there on a car road trip last August and rented a bike for a day while we were there. (had not bought one yet). You love the area. Just be EXTREMELY aware of the wildlife especially at dusk. Deer are all over the place. (don't ask me how I know, but it's a good thing I had the bike reserved). Have a good trip.
