I am getting ready to wire up my satellite radio mount and also a powered antenna for the regular radio on my SG. I was going to splice into the cig lighter power from inside the fairing. Is it ok to run both of those from that power or is it too much? Would I still be able to use the lighter for plugging in a GPS later down the road?
The amperage draw of either of those don't come close to the amp draw of the lighter, so you should be just fine. Now, ah'm not sure of the location of the lighter on the SG - on the UC, you can't plug anything into it because of clearance issues w/the tank when ya crank the bars left. But from an electrical standpoint, ya should be jest fine. You can get a "splitter" from Radio Shack that'll slide onto the male spade connector on the back side of the lighter an' give ya two male slide connection points.....
