Default Cruise Control

The cruise control on my 2003 Road King Classic (fuel injected) is not operating. The left grip cruise on/off switch shows a red light when activated (as it should). The right grip set/resume switch does not show a green light when activated; I had a new set/resume switch installed and still no green light when set. The brake lights work. When I do a "cable lash initilazation routine (as advised by the HD service manual),the right grip green cruise engage light comes on (as it should) and the RPM does increase (as it should). But, the set switch light (green light) will not activate when engaged on the road, and the cruise controlwill not work. Please help.

Default RE: Cruise Control

I had a similar problem on an '05 Road King Classic. The problem was the module at the end of the cable. The module was constantly sending a message to the cruise control that the throttle was turned forward. Once in a while Icould get the cruise to work byslowing down a little bit, roll on the throttle and hit the set button when I got to speed still rolling on the throttle. The trick was that I literally had to be turning the throttle to accelerate when I hit the set button. Dealer didn't have the black cable with the module. All they had in stock was the braided cable.Worked for me. I wanted to put braided cables on anyway and this was the perfect excuse to get the wife's "permission".

Thanks for the info. Question: When you say "module" do you mean the module unit under the left side panel?
