Rebuilt Title?
Yes, looks like a nice bike. Have you checked KBB & NADA to see what it's worth?
NADA reduces the value 50% for recon or slavage title as its somtimes called. So if its worth 16,000.00 then the recon title means its now worth 8,000.00. That not my oppion but it is the oppion of NADA and the banks.
My Harley dealer will not take a salvage title bike on trade.
I buy and sell bikes every day for a living. In the last year, my "repaired" sales have more than doubled, and my clean title sales have fallen way off. When most see how much they can save, and how little was really wrong with the bike, they go the repaired route. I think the price is fair. It's not a [sm=happy046.gif] bargain, but the price is fair. The last 02 Ultra I bought had 12000 miles on it. I paid about $9300.00 for it, and spent about $700.00 fixing it. It sold on Ebay for $12,700.00. This was a little less than a year ago, so I'd say you are in the ball park. I buy a lot of bikes from one company, so I get some pretty sweet buys. Depending on how many this guy gets, he may have close to that in his bike, and not be making much at all. Either way his profit/loss margin doesn't matter. What does, is that you are satisfied with the bike, and it's what you want. Ohio has some pretty strict slavage laws, so I'm sure you'd be fine in NC. If something don't work out on it, let me know. I've got about 18 in stock right now.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
i have every right to sue this loser who sold it to me, but its not worth the money it will cost in leagal fees, so i have to eat it.
i talked to my local stealer, and they told me, and they said the speak for every harley dealer, they WILL not take it as a trade, due to the liabilty issues. i was told, by them, it has NO value! so i just deal with it. im dealing with some minor electrical probs now, and pray it does not get worse.
my opinion, if you plan on keeping it, screw it, good deal, but i would take it to a dealer, like i did, and paid the shop rate for them to go over every single nut and bolt, connection, cost me 450.00, but what that did, is IF, i say have an accident, and someone else gets hurt, and yes, the ins. co. will use that against me, well, as least i have a receipt, from an auth. stealer, that states the bike is mech. sound. this was on the advice of my attorney. something well worth 450.00.
good luck
my 03 rkc has a "flood" title, which, i was not told about when i bought the bike, didnt find out till i got the title 2 weeks later.

One, I'd stay away from a flood bike. Sounds like AcidRayn got screwed. Just curious, did you buy your RKC from a dealer or an individual? The $450.00 he spent was probably good money. An ins. co. will tell you all sorts or "war stories" about what they will or won't pay on a claim etc. The value aspect of it may be true. The "it's your fault because your bike was repaired" is BS. Every bike that get's fixed has to be inspected by the State Police. If it's not mech. sound, then it don't pass. No ins. co. is gonna fight with the police when it comes down to it. Not saying they won't try to feed you a big line, and hope you take it. As far as a dealer saying it's "worthless", most every bike they trade for, they steal. I'd never suggest anyone try to trade with an H-D dealer. There is enough demand on the street for used bikes, that you can get a lot more out of it by selling it yourself. Bear in mind, if they talk you out of the bike you are wanting to buy, then they get a shot at selling you a new one. Personally, I don't care what you buy, it's not really my business. Just keep in mind, the people like HD dealers, and ins. cos, have a motive behind what they tell you. This could be the best bike you ever own, or it could be the biggest nightmare. No way to really tell until you own it. Out of 35 repaired bikes last year, I had ZERO problems, and 35 extremely happy customers. Hope your luck is as good as theirs, either way you go.
