Hi,
Has anyone tries Cee Bailey Super Step Contour Windshields? They look good, I wonder how good they work. It says to get one 3" longer than my stock windshield, that seems high to me. Maybe not.I see some riders with colored ones, how good is the vision at night Thur them, I'd like to get the blue one or bronze but was worried about the color interfering with my night vision, I'd hate to have to look over it and at $100 a pop I don't want to throw away money especiallynow-a-day with the hi cost on everything.
Any one out there with any advice I could use all the help I can get so I can make an informed decision.
Thanks, I appreciate everything, you guys are super and this is the most expensive forum to join. I didn't know how many things needed to be changed on my bike till I joined here.
Thank God I joined or I'd been riding a piece of junk or at least one that doesn't ride or look so good, keep up the good work helping us poor uneducated riders.
I have an SSC windsheild and I love it. It is a 12" model which is equal to a stock 9" windsheild. I look over mine by about 2". I have a visored helmet and experience not wind buffeting or helmet lift. To me, it is worth every penny.
Got a 9 inch on my SG and it still looks low but offers a lot more protection than the stocker. I'm 6'1" and happy with my dark shield. I look over it by several inches. Keep in mind the taller you go with a Cee Bailies the more vibration youre going to get, and with the curve I dont think youwould want to look through it. I think you'd getkind of a shaken fishbowl effect.
I don't run with any of mine all the time, and frankly haven't had any on recently, BUT I own a 13", 12" and 11". I also once had a 9" but it didn't work well for me.These are equivilent to standard shaped windshields 3" shorter. While they measure at total length of the size's above, they stand three actual inches shorter. They are the best windshield on the market if the goal is near if not total elimination of buffetting and creating a calm wind pocket. The 13" works the best by quite a lot. The 12" next and as you probably figured out by now last is the 11", however all three sizes work better for me than any 10/9/8" windhshield. My favorite for day over day is the 11" because it looks cool and sexy, (to me..I like the swoop), and I'm not in to total wind elimination. I will say ona long ride in cold weather, the 13" is a delight.
Oh yeah before some who hasn't tried one of these comes along and says "Clearview recurve is the only way to fly", I'll save you some money there. I've got an 8" with recurve and while it's a top notch windshield and does work better than a stock one, it doesn't approach the protection of the Cee Bailey SSC. THESE are the true wind tunnel tested windshields that work as advertised.
I have the SSC in a 15" (i think, or maybe 13"), anyway it works great to get rid of the buffetting. I used to have a 15" tall shield from HD and always thought looking thru the shield was better. I do not think I could ever go back to looking thru the shield. The curve takes the wind up and over for a very comfortable ride.
I have one and love it! There is distortion down low due to the curve but I got used to it pretty quick. It has the least amount of buffeting of any windshield I've owned in 40 years. But that's just my opinion. All windshields have buffeting and there are a lot of factors that can help reduce it. I have the HD fork baffle and the HD versions of the Dragon Wings on and combined they make a world of difference.
