I have an 06 ec, and like you, and many others, it bothered me too. I don't care if it does work great, it feels weird. what i did was take the locking cog off of the top of the stand, ( the piece held on with the nut ), took it down to my local machine shop, and had a duplicate made with the square hole rotated 10 to 15 degrees. it's hard to be real accurate. problem solved. works great, swings about three inches further forward, so when the bike sits on it, the weight of the bike holds it in place. I really can't believe no one has made a bunch of these and sold them on e-bay.
What a great idea...and so simple. What did they charge you to make up the piece? I'm definitely going to have this piece made.
Like you, even tho I know it works like it is, I hate the appearance. Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it
thats a really good question, for me it seems there's a bit of backwards weight. I felt better the way my dyna jiffy looked, the weight was leaned back. I tried to adjust it once, but no luck, if I can remember right, the cogs/machined grooves were to spread apart.
I would feel more comfortable with the jiffy pointed/leaned a little more forward.
But I am no harley engineer, so they must be right....right??
it's a little pricey unless you know someone with a machine shop. the local shop that I like, charged me a half hour labor. I've spent more, on stuff with less satisfaction level.
