BUG SLIDE is awsome stuff!!! Spray on it is a bug remover and a wax all I do is spray on wax off no water needed. If I go out for a late run and get back bugs all over!! I just spray on and wipe off. It also repels rain dust exc. never need to wax your bike again. I spray it over the whole bike chrome, plastic, windshield, everywhere! leaves as silky finish no smearing awsome stuff! www.bugslide.com

But I doubt if you have love bugs in IL. They are a different sort of issue. Splatter some fresh concrete on your windshield, let it cure overnight, then try the Bug Slide. That's a good test for removing love bugs.
A lot of us use to use Honda Proline SprayCleaner and Polish. It is no longer available with the Honda name on the can. For a while, it was marketed in an identical can, less the Honda name.
Now it comes in a pink and black can that says, "OriginalBike Spirits, Spray Cleaner and Polish." Still available at Honda dealers. Not only dissolves bug guts, but once used, the next layer of bugs from your next ride come right off with warm water. The can does say not for use on fabrics or rubber, such as grips, footpegs, and tires.
It's the only thing I've used for years. I'm still working up enough guts to try Lemon Pledge !
