Default Seat Issue

Seat Issue?
'04 RG. Floorboards at lowest position. RK Solo Saddle. 54 yoa. 200#. 34" inseam.
Seems all the above causing ba!!s to get pinched. Making for a more and more uncomfortable ride. Along with my *******, on my annual trip to Mecca (Sturgis) I get chapped and blistered at my azz bones, fortunately this appeares on the homewardbound portion of the trip so it's only threedays of the pain. Short trips around hereno problem, but I enjoy hours in the saddle. What concerns me more is my riding attitude. Yesterday made the Beaufort, Myrtle Beach, Darlington loop. Couple hunrded miles only. Returning from Darlington, realized I was riding like a total F&^()(*& jerk. My ba!!s were killing me and I had to get off ASAP. I apologize to all I pissed off along the way. I have read the seat comments via HD Forums search section. Many excellent opinions. I am hoping someone has had a similar situation and solution. I am not ready to trailer or buy a goldwing. Thank You.

My stock 07 RG seat is still the best seat for me. I use the H-D tallboy seat for 2 up riding but still feels like I'm riding the tank. Had a Mustang seat on my Softail and it was like sitting ona brick! Couldn't use it for long hauls.

The floorboard extentions also help to get my 34" inseam legs stretched out a little for more comfort.

I can't believe that I just read your entire rant.

You should take those issues up with your doctor or wife.

Whatever you do, don't buy a Goldwing. I just sold an 05 GW. Until the seat is well broken in (foam padding crushed), you slide forward, which pulls your shorts up, which causes your exact problem.

The solutions: scrap the jockey's for longer legged shorts, add a sheep skin cover to the seat and/orcustom fit a taxi cab driver beaded cover to your seat.

The stock RG seat is hard to beat(not 08's). Have you ever tried it? I know it's not a solo but I gotta tell you, several cross counttry trips on my 01 with stock seat. When I bought my 08 RG, I tried a couple of aftermarket seats, ended up getting an earlier model RG seat and modding it to fit without changing the seating or position.
Try your stock seat!

If your butt is otherwise happy on the seat, with decent support,no numbness, pain, etc., try Under Armor skivvies or something similar. Lot's of long distance riders like 'em. They stay with you, not with the seat.

FWIW, I thought that the RK solo looked OK, but offered poor lower back support (that was on my '99). I think there are lot's of better seats than the RK solo.

Personally, I prefer Corbin's seat shape for this reason. Didn't much care for Mustang, although the backrest was sweet to have. All depends on what grabs ya, or ratherdoesn't grab ya!

The good news is that you can flip what doesn't work on eBay and get most of your money back.

I also eventually found out that the Heritage has more leg room for taller riders, also FWIW.

I used to have that same problem, but the ex wife and I spilt everything down the middle in the divorce, and she got the left nut. Thankfully the right one was the one I was most proud of, but it still leaves some extra room in the shorts.
