You obviously have no idea what it is like to make the minimum wage and still have to try to pay the gas prices let alone raise a family. No Sir, you are not in the real world because the wages have not raised enough to even cover the amout that gas has raised. When something goes wrong it must be caused by the Democrats or the Unions ! Good Lord wake up! "

wow. ok first of all, the minimum wage note meant nor designed to beA LIVING wage. This is for part timers and teenagers working their first job gaining somevaluable work experience.

If you areover 23 ,out of school, with a family, and earning minimum wage, you have made some very bad life decisions. This is not my fault. Maybe you should have listened to your mother and stayed in school.

I for one, am tired of paying for every minimum wage increase, tax increase, etc. to finance every gonernmentprogram that allows people to stay home and mooch a living.

Get a clue.

The price of a gallon of gas is still taxed very heavily at the federal and state level. People keep voting for every tax increase that comes up for vote. The government is taxing us to death and you just want more handouts andminimum wage increases.

When was the last time the Government had a layoff or cut costs in a falling economy? private business has to to compete, why are the feds and states not cutting costs? We should be hearing about the latest rounds of federal employee layoffs and tax rate DECREASES in a bad economy.

This is not a republican or democratic thing. You are blind if you think there is an ounce of differnece between them.

Hillary has never held a job. Never. Had. A. Job. Yet she is worth over 10 million. Hmmm.. pretty good for no income.

Why do you think that these people spend hundredsof millions of dollars fighting for a job that pays what? 200K a year? Every politician leaves office a freakin millionare and no one cares. All you bitch about is minimum wage and the price of a gallon of gas.

Sorry dude, check facts as Hillary was an attourny with a law firm before getting in to Politics, people WITH college degrees working at McDonalds because the job market is going to china, Mexico an as long as the (Powers that be) fatcats that make all the money and make all the rules talk crap about how they sent all the work to china and they are making so much money then that is the way it will be.

Furthermore, the Fed and State DO cut jobs, the small ones, they do it through attrition as in Fla cut bunches after the latest property tax cut. It is called a hiring freeze!

Sorry dude, I do live in the real world and try to help my kids through school but, I am sure to you I am lazy living off the Government as being cripple has a tendency slow you down a bit

Sorry simpkins but you point is mute as gas has gone up 100% in the past 3 years, how much has your employees wages gone up?

so, one productgoes up and everyone deserves a 100% raise? i'm thinking....inflation....

OK- Real estate has dropped how much the past year? 50-60% in some areas. If you live in these areas should you return 50% of your salary? Well houses are MUCH cheaper and this IS the majority of your expenses.

i am only spending $40 a more per month on gas. big freakin deal. If your budget is tight, drop the cell phone. I bet you pay more than $40 a month on that. What about high speed dial-up for the pc? No, you rather your employee double your salary because god forbid if you have to take on some personal fiscal responsibilty. Me? i stopped buying my lunch in the cafeteria at work everyday and am now packing. I save more than the increase in gas. oooooo major inconvienance.

Or lets tackle the REAL problems. Lets start drilling for our own oil in our own country. Stop buying from OPEC. The fact is we havent built a new refinery in the US for how many decades? 30? 40?

Your arguement makes no sense.

I will be right back ---> I'm gonna go tell my boss that the price of a can of corn went up 6 cents and I need him to double my salary.

Sorry man, but the price of real estate had gone UP before it dropped the 50-60% in some cases, (Like down here) it went up by 100-200% over the course of 5 years before the bottom dropped out of it. Houses are cheaper because PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEM! I know, it didn't effect you so, it can't be happening ! Also, my wife works an hour away,Packs her lunchand spends better than $40 a week more on gas from 2 years ago. (I know, sell the house and move closer to work till she gets rightsized out of that job) then all of America can be Gypsy migrant workers. Wait that HAS been done, it was called the DEPRESSION!

While I respect that you have a right to your opinion it is like talking to someone in a bubble that has been shielded from the real world by money. I will pray that you never have to see what it is really like out there for the folks who had to package that can of corn that you spoke of. Good luck with your raise!

As a Canadian, we see our retail stores flooded with Chinese products. For Cris' sakes I needed a new Dewalt circular saw last month. This saw is the standard saw used in construction in Canada. ALWAYS been made in the USA. Guess what? In tiny letters on the info. plate....Made In China.
This makes me sick especially since these fatcats do not reduce the price even though they save on labour etc. Huge industrial cities are sprouting up all over the coastal regions of China. Supplying North America with EVERYTHING because this Western consumer just wants the cheapest price, no alliance to our own economy or keeping jobs in North America. Look out everyone, China will dominate the worlds economies soon.......

Man, this gets interesting! That's what I love about these forums, a debate can start out with "made in the usa" and then all cards hit the table. I've seen the Democratic card, Republican card, Hillary card, disabled card, min. wage card, fatcat CEO card, union card, man, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat trying to guess which cards get played next. Ya know what though, I started out in the union, worked it for many, many years. The union is good for some things, bad for others. Now that was on the fence! I got tired of working on that line, so I went back to school and got into the office, where I am happily moving forwardand have a good career. Is a floor job harder? Many think so, but I would beg to differ, my work is not necessarily labor intense, but it is hard work. The guys on our floor also work very hard. Now, you can call me a fat cat, but many of the guys on our floor make more than me in the course of the year. Please remember, these are all choices we made. Don't slam the union guy, he has strong beliefs and fulfills his purpose. Without the workers, they surely wouldn't need me. Don't slam the CEO, because without him, we wouldn't need the union guys. Since I work with a lot of these so-called "fat cats", I would also like to remind you these guys have spent many thousands of dollars on their education, have and will continue to make personal sacrifices because of their position and having all that salary is not all it is hyped to be. How would you like it if your idea of a vacation became going with your family on the weekend to Florida, flying home Sunday night while leaving them there for the week, then returning the following weekend to spend another day with them and fly home because you had work to do?

Frog, I can relate to the vacation thing! Did just that way in 2000 as I had a week vacation approved all but one day in the middle of the week! Had to fly from Tampa to Detroit in the morning, work second shift and take the redeye back to Tampa to meet my family or lose a weeks pay for one day followed by the drive home. I look at unions kind of like the legal system, I don't agree with everything about them but, till something better comes along.....Just out of curiosity, How many of the Union people at your shop hang out online while they are working?

Why do you assume I am shielded by money? Why do you think I am in a bubble? Because I have a job?

Personally I think this is like talking to people that have been brainwashed and can no longer form their own thought.

Since youassumed you know me....let me give you a quick review. I have been workingsince I have been 15 years old. My father was killed in an accident when I was 14, so I had no choice. My brother and Iworked to pay our share of the expenses. This was everyday after school and weekends. We worked. We did not go on wellfare or except handouts. We did whatever job we could. I did not go to college, but I did attend a 2 year tech school. I got loans and paid whatI could for school.Again no handouts. I was responsible fo me. I dealt with it. I was not born with a silver spoon or into a wealthy family. My father joined the NAVY at 18 to get out of the coal mines in WV.

I have been laid of and I have switched jobs out of need over the years. I am married now and have 2 kids. I now make a good wage at a pretty good company. My wife works part time and goes to school. we can only afford 1 or 2 classes a semester at the community colege, but we get by.

And yes I am damn tired of paying for another freakin government program that allows deadbeats to sit on their *** on my nickle.

So, please do not tell me I am in some sort of bubble.

And you know what? I probably could not get a job now at 15 if i tried. Here in NE Ohio...(oh yeah the poorest county/city in the country last I heard) Since the state raised the minimum wage the summer jobs and part time jobs are damn near gone. Why? Business are hiring LESS WORKERS to make up for the hike. I know. I have heard this FIRST HAND from managers and small business owners.

My advice to you is to stop "learning" through the 6 o'clock news and find out facts for yourself. It is very eye-openeing. Remember - free your mind and you *** will follow.

I'll get off the soap box now...my damn boss is avoiding me.

Perhaps your boss is avoiding you because you are supposed to be working> How many hourly employees are hanging around on the computer during working hours? I Know, (Perks). What I am trying to get through to you is that things have changed and that you are shielded from what is really going on by the job you have. If you had to start over I believe your eyes would be open. If in fact you could not work tomorrow out of no fault of your own I believe your view would be different.

I worked in factorys, I am a vet, I worked in factorys after I got out and did odd jobs on the side. I started college at 40 till I got hurt on the job and couldn't even sit in class for 2 hrs at a time. No dude, I didn't learn what life was like from the news, I was in Saudi with the AWACs long before many knew it was gonna be a hotspot.

Just curious, How rich are the business owners/ Managers that are cutting the lower jobs, So, what do you think happens to the people that can't get jobs because managers have cut jobs? Kinda sounds like with no jobs, no social programs and you said yourself about how expensive it is to go to school. What do those people do? Sorry dude, Jobs are gone in this country because everyone is on the internet at work and most
