Thank Yous and Tips
As a “new kid on the block” I have more than one Thank You to formally pass along. I acquired my 06 Electra Classic in Jan, but been following the forum since early spring of last year. There is, to be sure, some misinformation I had to work through, but taken in total the information exchange provided here has save me uncountable hours and measurable dollars. In fact, I have tracked the monetary savings and it currently totals nearly $1000 on $3900 of retail chrome accessories and performance items I have purchased.
First to TCSTD for his excellent DITY section and the advice on Stage I upgrade…For those only considering Stage I upgrade, TFI is all you need.
Second to TOWSEAS for his research on “Poorman’s SE Aircleaner”…you can buy the parts cheaper than the kit and get the air filter you want!
Third to BILLNOURSE for his quick detach tour pack instructions for FLHTC/U and directions on building a wall mount for off bike storage.
Fourth to BSKUBON for his suggestion on alternate Harley Oil Temp Gauge sensor install…made the install of this gauge a breeze over Harley’s procedure…and I have a few tips I can pass along to others who are interested
Fifth to John at Zanotti’s HD and all those who turned me on to Zanotti’s. Averaged 26% savings on all my HD accessories.
Sixth to all those who helped me work through all the misinformation on adding the passenger grab bar back on the 06 FLHTC/U.
A few hints I can pass along to help others
1. If you want to keep your whip antenna on the tour pack, get an antenna “Y” connector for the back of the radio ($6-$10 at electronics store, mau have to order). Both your faring hidden antenna (whichever one you choose) and your tour pack whip remained plugged in. Just unplug the whip cable and store it under the seat when you remove the tour pack.
2. Oil sensor bushing size for alternate oil temp senor location is 5/8” with 3/8 MPT and 1/8 FPT…Ace Hardware stock number 4038469.
3. When installing quick detach tour pack rack, may want to reduce length of pack mounting bolts so they don’t poke through the black tip protectors on the lock nuts.
Cheers
